JOB OVERVIEW

The Municipal Court Clerk I is responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties in support of the municipal court's daily operations. This position requires maintaining accurate court records, handling administrative tasks, and providing customer service to the public, attorneys, and law enforcement agencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Court Administration : Process and maintain court records, documents, and files. Ensure all records are accurate and updated.

Customer Service : Provide information to the public regarding court procedures, case statuses, and fines. Respond to inquiries from the public, law enforcement, and attorneys.

Data Entry : Accurately enter and update court data in the electronic case management system.

Scheduling : Assist in scheduling court proceedings, hearings, and trials. Notify all parties involved.

Payments Processing : Accept and process fines, fees, and other payments. Ensure accurate accounting of funds received.

Document Preparation : Prepare court orders, notices, and other legal documents as required.

Compliance : Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding court records and procedures.

Case Management : Manage court calendars and track case progression from filing to final disposition.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED required.

Prior experience in a court, legal, or administrative setting preferred.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to work with the public, law enforcement, and legal professionals.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic case management systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands : Primarily a sedentary office role; some filing or lifting of materials may be required.

Work Environment : Fast-paced court setting with frequent interaction with the public and legal professionals.
