NEUCO is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead estimating efforts for utility infrastructure projects across New England. This role is responsible for developing accurate, executable cost estimates for gas distribution, pipeline, regulator station, and related civil utility work. The Senior Estimator will work closely with Operations, Project Management, and Executive Leadership to ensure pricing reflects real‑world construction means, methods, and production. This position plays a critical role in supporting NEUCO’s growth and long‑term contract performance.
What You’ll Do
Lead the development of unit‑price and lump‑sum estimates for utility infrastructure projects.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings.
Prepare comprehensive cost estimates in B2W Estimate (Trimble), including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor inputs.
Develop bid‑level schedules and construction durations using Primavera P6.
Review RFPs, contract documents, and specifications to identify scope, risks, and pricing impacts.
Coordinate with Operations and Project Management to validate means and methods, production rates, and constructability assumptions.
Support proposal development, internal bid reviews, and project handoff to Operations.
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
What You’ll Have
Bachelor’s Degree in construction management or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years of estimating experience in utility infrastructure construction
Proven experience estimating gas distribution, pipeline, regulator stations, or underground utility work
Proficiency with B2W Estimate (Trimble)
Working knowledge of Primavera P6
Strong understanding of utility construction sequencing, crew‑based production, and field execution
Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Knowledge of State and Federal regulations and how they apply to the Natural Gas Industry
Knowledge of and skill in using computer software, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and computerized cost data and systems
Mathematical skill to calculate and interpret data using percentages, ratios, averages, and medians.
Strong written communication for developing detailed reports, proposals, and business plans
Effective oral communication with customers, colleagues, and business partners in a professional manner
Skilled in negotiating key business strategies and agreements to reach mutually beneficial solutions
Ability to read and interpret professional journals, financial reports, business plans, strategies, and legal documents
Capable of long‑term planning and scheduling, including ongoing review and coordination of implementation activities
