Job Description Our client is seeking a
Director of Accounting
to provide hands-on financial leadership in a growing, multi-entity organization. This highly visible role partners closely with executive leadership and plays a critical part in stabilizing and strengthening accounting operations while supporting forward-looking financial planning and analysis.
This position oversees day-to-day accounting functions, ensures compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and provides financial insight to support operational and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a proactive, solutions-oriented leader comfortable building structure, improving processes, and operating in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Leadership & Operations
Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, project accounting, and month-end/year-end close
Maintain balance sheet integrity, accruals, reconciliations, and financial controls
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory standards
Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Supervise accounting staff and coordinate with external accounting partners
Support audit preparation and financial reporting requirements
Financial Planning & Analysis
Develop revenue and cash flow forecasts across multiple projects or programs
Perform variance analysis and financial modeling to support decision-making
Provide forward-looking financial insights to executive leadership
Assist with budgeting and financial performance tracking
Business & Operational Support
Partner cross-functionally with leadership and operations teams
Support financial modeling and reporting for emerging initiatives or new business lines
Assist with compliance reporting and external financial reviews
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
8+ years of progressive accounting experience
Prior experience in a project-based or government-regulated environment strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP
Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling experience
Experience with ERP/accounting systems
Demonstrated leadership experience managing staff
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to build processes and operate effectively in evolving environments
CPA required
