This role will own the solution architecture, migration strategy, integration blueprint, security model, and data cutover approach while collaborating with business stakeholders, delivery teams, and platform engineers. The architect will ensure a scalable, secure, and high-performing D365 CE implementation aligned to enterprise architecture standards and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Define target-state architecture for D365 CE (Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, Marketing/Customer Insights Journeys where applicable). Translate business needs into D365 functional and technical solution designs, including entities/tables, business processes, automation, security, and reporting. Create architecture artifacts: HLD/LLD, environment strategy, deployment architecture, integration patterns, and non-functional requirements (NFRs). Provide governance on best practices: ALM, solution layering, performance, security, and scalability. 2) SFDC → D365 Migration Leadership
Lead migration strategy covering: Data model mapping (SFDC objects → Dataverse tables) Process mapping (SFDC flows/process builder/workflows → Power Automate / plugins / business rules) UI mapping (SFDC Lightning pages → D365 forms, views, dashboards) Security mapping (profiles/roles/permission sets → D365 security roles/teams/BU hierarchy) Drive migration planning and execution: Data profiling, cleansing rules, deduping, data quality framework Cutover planning (mock cutovers, runbooks, go/no-go criteria, rollback approach) Reconciliation strategy (record counts, sampling, exception handling) 3) Integration & Extension Strategy
Architect integrations using Power Platform, Azure Integration Services, and APIs: Dataverse integration patterns (sync, async, event-driven) Salesforce integration sunset planning (if co-existence required temporarily) Upstream/downstream integrations with ERP (e.g., D365 F&O), middleware (MuleSoft, Boomi, Logic Apps), and enterprise apps Design extension approach using: Power Automate, Power Apps, Plugins, Custom APIs, Azure Functions, Service Bus/Event Grid (as needed) 4) Delivery Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Lead architecture workshops, discovery, and design sessions with business and IT leadership. Guide functional/technical teams (onshore/offshore) and review configurations, customizations, and code for quality. Ensure delivery alignment to scope, timelines, risk management, and compliance requirements (SOX/GDPR, etc.). Support SIT/UAT planning, defect triage, and stabilization through go-live and hypercare. 5) Governance, Security & Compliance
Define and validate security model (BUs, teams, roles, field security, hierarchy security). Establish ALM/DevOps approach using solutions, pipelines, and environment separation (Dev/Test/UAT/Prod). Ensure compliance with enterprise policies for identity, auditing, data retention, and operational monitoring. Required Skills & Experience
Must-Have
10+ years in CRM/enterprise applications, with 5+ years as a D365 CE Architect/Lead. Proven experience delivering SFDC to D365 migration (minimum 1-2 large migrations preferred). Strong expertise in Dataverse architecture, security model, and performance patterns. Strong knowledge of D365 CE apps (Sales + Customer Service minimum). Hands-on capability with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI fundamentals). Strong understanding of: Data migration (mapping, transformations, cutover, reconciliation) Integration architecture (REST/SOAP APIs, Azure integration patterns) ALM and CI/CD for D365 solutions Good-to-Have
Experience with Customer Insights (Data/Journeys), Field Service, or Omnichannel. Experience with Azure services (Logic Apps, Service Bus, Functions, API Management). Knowledge of MuleSoft/Boomi or other iPaaS tools used in SFDC ecosystems. Familiarity with Copilot/AI capabilities in Dynamics 365 and responsible AI patterns (optional). Typical Migration Scope (What this Architect will own)
SFDC org assessment (objects, flows, integrations, custom code, AppExchange dependencies) D365 target data model + process architecture Migration tooling approach (ETL, Dataflows, third-party tools, or custom pipelines) Integration redesign (eliminate SFDC dependencies, replace with Dataverse/Azure patterns) Cutover strategy and runbooks (multiple dress rehearsals) Post go-live stabilization and adoption support Deliverables & Artifacts
Target architecture diagram (apps, integrations, identity, environments) Migration approach document: mapping, cleansing rules, load sequence, cutover plan HLD/LLD, security design, NFRs, performance plan Integration designs and API specifications DevOps/ALM strategy + release plan Data reconciliation and validation framework Soft Skills
Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder influence Ability to translate complex technical decisions into business outcomes Proven leadership in cross-functional teams and vendor coordination Structured problem-solving mindset, risk-based decision making Education & Certifications (Preferred)
