
Purpose of this Role
The Senior Product Owner is responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and execution of one or more complex products within the technology organization. In this role, you will work closely with engineering, UX, business stakeholders, and leadership to deliver high-value solutions that align with organizational goals. You will own the product roadmap, translate strategic priorities into actionable work, and ensure development teams deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced, Agile-based environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision Define and communicate a compelling product vision and long-term strategy aligned with business objectives. Build and maintain a prioritized product roadmap based on customer and stakeholder needs. Identify market and technology trends to influence product direction. Backlog Ownership & Delivery
Translate business requirements into clear, actionable user stories with acceptance criteria. Manage, prioritize, and refine the product backlog to maximize value delivery. Collaborate with engineering teams during sprints to provide clarity, remove blockers, and ensure delivery accuracy. Ensure features meet Definition of Done, quality standards, and performance expectations. Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary liaison between engineering teams and business stakeholders. Communicate progress, risks, and decisions clearly to leadership and cross-functional partners. Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions, and backlog refinement with stakeholders. Customer & User Focus
Use customer insights, analytics, user research, and feedback loops to drive product decisions. Advocate for exceptional user experience and ensure IT solutions meet usability, accessibility, and performance standards. Leadership & Mentorship
Guide and mentor Product Owners or junior team members as needed. Drive continuous improvement in product management best practices. Lead cross-functional alignment for major product initiatives. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications
6-8+ years of experience in product ownership or product management, ideally within IT or software development. Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and product management frameworks. Proven ability to turn business requirements into technical deliverables. Excellent communication, facilitation, and decision-making skills. Experience with modern software development practices (APIs, cloud, DevOps, modern architecture). Experience with Jira and Azure DevOps Server (formerly Team Foundation Server). Preferred Qualifications
Experience in enterprise-scale IT environments. Background working with engineering teams on complex systems (e.g., SaaS, data platforms, integrations). Product Owner or Agile certifications (A-CSPO, PSPO, SAFe PO/PM). Familiarity with product analytics tools and user research practices. Bachelor's degree in computer science or business administration. Success Measures
