SCOPE OF WORK
The Product Owner will be responsible for
end-to-end product ownership
of the IFC Climate Portal during the assessment and implementation phases. Responsibilities include defining product vision, managing and prioritizing the backlog, aligning stakeholders, supporting agile delivery, and ensuring that the solution delivers measurable business value to IFC's climate operations.
Product Strategy & Vision Define, articulate, and maintain the product vision and roadmap for the IFC Climate Portal, aligned with IFC climate strategies and investment operations. Translate IFC climate business objectives, regulatory commitments, and operational needs into clear product goals and outcomes. Ensure alignment between climate policy requirements (e.g., Paris Alignment, climate risk, Climate Finance, GHG assessments) and product capabilities. Backlog Ownership & Prioritization
Own and manage the product backlog, including epics, capabilities, features, and user stories within the SAFe Agile Framework. Prioritize backlog items based on business value, regulatory urgency, dependencies, and technical feasibility. Continuously refine and groom the backlog to ensure readiness for Program Increment (PI) planning and sprint execution. Assessment & Requirements Definition
Lead structured assessment activities to understand current Climate Portal capabilities, gaps, and enhancement opportunities. Collaborate with climate business users, investment teams, data teams, IT architects, and external partners to capture and validate product requirements. Define clear acceptance criteria and Definition of Done for all backlog items. Stakeholder Engagement & Governance
Serve as the primary product liaison between climate business stakeholders, IFC management, and technology delivery teams. Facilitate workshops, product reviews, and decision forums to ensure shared understanding and timely decision-making. Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate product progress, risks, and trade-offs transparently. Agile Delivery & SAFe Participation
Actively participate in SAFe ceremonies including PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, system demos, and retrospectives. Provide ongoing clarification to development and testing teams to ensure accurate implementation of product features. Support dependency management and cross-team coordination within the Agile Release Train (ART). Validation & Value Realization
Validate delivered functionality against business objectives and acceptance criteria. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and business sign-off activities. Measure and report on delivered value, usability improvements, and operational efficiency gains. SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or equivalent professional experience. 10+ years of experience
in Product Management or Product Ownership roles on large, complex enterprise systems. Strong hands-on experience with the SAFe Agile Framework , including PI planning and backlog management at scale. Demonstrated experience leading product assessment and implementation initiatives. Exposure to
climate, sustainability, ESG, or environmental data platforms
is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of climate-related concepts such as Paris Alignment, climate risk assessment, Climate Finance, or GHG accounting is a plus. Proven ability to translate complex business and regulatory needs into prioritized product features. Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, communication, and decision-making skills. Experience working with distributed and onshore/offshore delivery teams. Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps Boards or equivalent agile product management tools (preferred). Certifications (Preferred)
SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager (POPM) Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) PMI-ACP, CBAP, or equivalent Sustainability or climate-related professional certifications
