Description As the Director of German Desk, you will be responsible for a portfolio of clients and prospects. You will be tasked to grow this portfolio over time by winning new business and by working in collaboration with our operations team to complete client mandates. A successful Director of European Desk will have the ability to switch seamlessly between tasks to meet the portfolio’s needs. Some of these tasks include contract negotiation, overseeing the recruitment lifecycle, discovery meetings, project management, offer letter negotiation, and closing deals.

As a Director of European Desk, you will have a tremendous amount of control over your success and growth, professionally as well as financially. The position's responsibilities are twofold.

1) Business Development & Account Management Activities (90%)

Identify, approach, and persuade prospects for initial contact through various means such as online tools, curated lists, membership registers, referral leverage, non-profit organizations, membership events, speaking assignments, etc.

Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients and prospects through periodic follow-up by phone, email, video conferencing, and onsite visits.

Growing and influencing your network by staying “top of mind” of prospects as the subject matter expert regarding recruiting and doing business as a European company in North America.

Participate as subject matter expert for talent acquisition in speaker panels abroad.

Attending industry-specific trade shows to nurture client and prospect relationships.

Utilizing and maintaining CRM to build opportunity funnel and close deals.

Collaborate with Marketing to best target new prospect groups and/or associations.

2) Recruitment Activities (10%)

Participate in Discovery Meetings with customers and operations team to understand assignment requirements.

In collaboration with Recruitment Team Lead (RTL) manage all sourcing and talent pipelines using various channels to fulfill client mandates.

Build strong relationships with clients. Identify their recruiting needs and wants and encourage customer feedback.

Develop effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.

Create a healthy and motivating work environment and atmosphere. Listen to team members’ feedback.

Offer transparent feedback to the Operations Excellence Manager to streamline the recruiting process.

Identify opportunities to improve performance, develop initiatives, and roll out solutions.

Identify “sticking points” on client-side and use personal relationships with decision-makers to influence the recruitment process for a positive outcome which equals a closed deal.

Preferred Skills

Strong business acumen and ability to forge lasting business relationships with business executives.

Confidence in your own ability to close deals.

Ability to handle deadlines and manage projects from start to finish with proven work experience in sales, account management, or project management.

Ability to shepherd multiple projects simultaneously to close through collaboration with a recruitment team.

Excellent customer relations and decision-making skills.

Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy in process, compliance, and operational expertise.

Successful track record working with international customers across borders, ideally European small to mid-size business.

Highly motivated, accountable self-starter with high integrity and a passion for business.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

5-7 years of experience in Sales or Key Account Management

Must be a native German speaker.

High energy, determination, and resilience.

Proven track record of sales results in a B-to-B environment.

Strong desire to be a top performer within a winning team.

Excellent communication skills – including verbal, written, listening, and questioning.

Willing and able to travel internationally and domestically
