This a temporary, 6-month assignment.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst is a strategic analytics expert responsible for delivering high-impact insights, enterprise-wide KPI governance, and advanced data visualization through Power BI, Tableau and AI-assisted analytics tools.

This role operates within Chesapeake's modern Azure-based lakehouse and enterprise semantic model architecture, consuming curated Gold-layer data to drive executive-ready insights and cross-department decision support.

The Senior BI Analyst is a trusted advisor to underwriting, claims, actuarial, finance, operations, and leadership teams. This position requires deep analytical expertise, advanced Power BI and modeling skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to lead enterprise KPI design, semantic modeling, and cross-functional reporting initiatives.

The role also mentors junior analysts and contributes to the maturation of Chesapeake's analytics standards, governance, and data literacy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Designs, develops, and maintains advanced Power BI dashboards, reports, and enterprise semantic models using trusted, governed data. Serves as a strategic analytics advisor and primary point of contact for business stakeholders, translating complex questions into enterprise-aligned KPIs, metrics, and visualizations. Acts as a Lead Data Steward within assigned domains, driving metric standardization, business glossary adoption, and analytics governance. Performs advanced, ad-hoc, and exploratory analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, utilizing Tableau for rapid investigation prior to standardizing insights in Power BI. Applies AI-enabled analytics tools to accelerate insight generation, enhance storytelling, and support executive decision-making. Validates analytical results, investigates anomalies, and partners with data engineering teams to resolve data quality issues and improve data pipelines. Defines, documents, and governs report logic, business rules, and data sources in accordance with departmental standards. Communicates insights clearly through dashboards, presentations, written summaries, and AI-assisted narratives for executive and operational audiences. Mentors and coaches mid-level and junior analysts on technical skills, visualization best practices, and insurance domain knowledge. Participates in agile delivery processes, including backlog refinement, planning, and ongoing operational reporting support. Supports enterprise and departmental strategy by delivering accurate, timely, and actionable insights. Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives; adheres to departmental policies, procedures, quality, and safety standards, and consistently exhibits Chesapeake's Values and Behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned. SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Insurance, or related field, or equivalent experience. 6+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data analysis roles. Expert-level experience with Power BI, including complex dashboard development, advanced semantic modeling, and optimization of complex DAX measures. Hands-on experience using Tableau for ad-hoc analysis and exploratory visualization. Advanced SQL skills and experience querying and analyzing enterprise data sets. Knowledge of insurance concepts such as policy lifecycle, claims, premiums, loss ratios, and reserving. Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships at the leadership level. Strong written and verbal communication skills with non-technical audiences, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to executives. Experience using AI-assisted analytics tools to enhance analysis and business communication. Strong analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. Proven experience mentoring peers or leading technical projects. POSITIONAL COMPETENCIES:
