
The Resident Director (RD) is a full-time, live-in professional staff position responsible for the supervision of one residence hall at the University of Idaho
Position Overview This position is expected to respond to students in crisis, follow up on CARE (Coordinate, Assessment, Response, and Education) concerns, and engage regularly with residents in their area.
Duties may include:
Supervise 8- 20 student staff and one Senior Resident Assistant
Provides assistance to residents
Advises Housing Area Team ( HATS – student council) and oversees the facilitation of community development
Leads retention efforts in area assigned
Serves as a conduct hearing officer as needed
Assists with University and departmental recruitment efforts, and performs administrative and managerial tasks associated with the assigned area
Work collaboratively in smaller team groups to direct and coordinate various departmental projects
Operating in Housing systems susch as StarRez, Roompact, Advocate etc.
Bachelor’s Degree; four additional years of experience (for a total of five) may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree
Required Other
Ability to work nonstandard hours which may include evenings, weekends and holidays
Ability to participate in an on call rotation
Ability to live on campus, an apartment in the residence hall is provided
Additional Preferred Preferred Education
Master’s Degrees in Higher Ed, Counseling or Social Work
Experience with/in:
Residence life
Organization, and decision-making
Supervising staff
Crisis management
Working with college-aged students and fostering student success
Managing a variety of projects simultaneously
Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles.
