
Job Description
The Tooling Designer will work in the CAD department at the Tool Shop, focusing on designing plastic injection molds. This role requires the ability to provide clear and accurate prints to be handed over to mold makers. Collaboration with mold makers through the tooling build is essential to ensure correctness. Interaction with vendors and customers is a part of this role, requiring a polished and personable demeanor. The team comprises approximately 30 individuals, including designers, mold makers, program managers, and engineers.
Responsibilities- Design injection molds in Cimatron and supply hard copy prints to the team.
- Coordinate ordering of components.
- Collaborate with project managers and customers to improve part designs.
- Work with specialty departments (EDM, CNC, etc.) to ensure quality and job success.
- Manage data transfers and storage.
- Guide the workflow through manufacturing.
- Supply data for outside services.
- Maintain soft and hard data folders.
- Collaborate effectively within the departmental team.
- 3+ years experience in plastic injection mold design.
- 2+ years experience in mechanical drafting, including blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing.
- 2+ years experience designing in 3D CAD.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, injection mold, mold design, tool design.
- Experience with Cimatron.
- Understanding of plastics processing.
The role is based in the Tooling Shop adjacent to the Main Vicksburg Plant on Portage Rd. The Tooling Designer will report to the Tooling Manager and collaborate with approximately 30 colleagues, including designers, CAD/CAM programmers, mold makers, and print press operators. Interaction with employees from nearby manufacturing plants is common. The position averages 40-45 hours per week, with flexible start times between 6:30am and 7:30am. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, resourceful, and demonstrates high initiative.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $39.00/hr.
