The Banking Specialist supports our finance team by managing the full-cycle bank reconciliation process, including recording ad hoc transactions, applying cash receipts, and ensuring accuracy between Salesforce and Workday financial systems. This role is instrumental in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting customer payment research and reporting.

Essential Responsibilities Bank Reconciliation & Cash Management

Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations for multiple operating and petty cash accounts.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and company records in a timely manner.

Monitor automated deposits, returned items, and chargebacks; work with AR and Managing Partners to resolve exceptions.

Record and post non-standard/ad hoc bank transactions in the general ledger through Workday.

Ensure all cash receipts and bank transfers are accurately recorded and matched to the correct ledger accounts and accounting period.

Cash Application & Customer Payment Support

Apply payments received to customer accounts and reconcile with Salesforce data.

Research and resolve customer payment issues, including misapplied or missing payments.

Enter and update customer account notes in Salesforce regarding failed payments, returned checks, or payment disputes.

Respond to internal requests regarding customer payment status and provide documentation as needed.

Process Improvement & Controls

Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, and control enhancements within the bank reconciliation process.

Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for reconciliation and cash application processes.

Implement macros or other tools to reduce manual effort and increase accuracy.

Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and SOX/internal audit requirements where applicable.

Outsourced Team Oversight (Blue Pineapple)

Train and manage outsourced team members on bank reconciliation and cash application processes.

Respond to inquiries and ensure timely resolution of issues.

Assign responsibilities, track progress, and ensure deadlines are met consistently.

General & Administrative

Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and reconciliations.

Assist with financial reporting and month-end close processes related to cash and banking.

Perform additional finance and administrative duties as assigned by leadership.

Skills And Qualifications

Proven experience managing multi-site operations, preferably in the service or hospitality industry.

Demonstrated success in strategic planning, performance management, and driving operational improvements.

Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage P&L and deliver cost-effective outcomes.

Excellent leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative management style.

Experience hiring, training, and developing high-performing teams aligned with company or brand standards.

Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities with internal teams and external clients.

Proficient in financial and CRM systems, preferably Workday and Salesforce.

Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and macros.

Ability to adapt quickly, manage multiple priorities, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Compensation $50,000 - $60,000 per annum.

LOCATION This is a full-time on-site position based out of our corporate headquarters in Owings Mills, MD.
