
Recreation Specialist

Are you ready to make a difference in adolescent Lives? Job Details General Summary: This position works under the direction of the Recreation Director. Provides a general recreation program for all patients. This is a safety sensitive position. Duties and Responsibilities: Supervises and leads school recreation classes Leads recreation therapy groups as assigned. Assists to ensure that the recreation program is an integral part of treatment. Assists in planning and implementing special events. Assists in implementing Community Reintegration Program. Completes weekly program notes. Completes leisure skills assessments. Completes Incident Reports and DYS reports. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong written and verbal skills; ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, licensed associates and the general public Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions Basic understanding of calculation of figures Work Experience &/or Education: High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Experience with emotionally disturbed youth preferred. Good driving skills and a valid Arkansas drivers license and eligibility for agency insurance required. Paraprofessional certification is required within 30-90 days of employment with training provided on site. Must be 21 years of age or older. Physical Demands and Work Environment Team members are required to sit, stand, talk, see, walk and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to personally restrain patients. Must maintain a current tuberculosis skin test. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.
