The Boston Globe seeks a sports content producer to assist with all aspects of digital publishing, including writing and producing trending news stories, curating and managing our website and other digital products, and audience engagement tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Write original content for our website and other Globe publishing platforms, including print, newsletters, and social media.
- Edit and post content from our sports reporters, and work with our sports copy desk, online staff, and reporters to develop and follow breaking news.
- Enhance articles with photos, video, graphics, and social media.
- Handle audience engagement, including sharing content on social media channels, writing and editing newsletters, and updating headlines, teasers, and story descriptions to attract larger audiences.
- Use analytics, trends, and other data to determine story selection and placement on our site.
Qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of professional, major college, and international sports, and solid news judgment.
- College degree and 2-4 years of professional experience in online media.
- A track record of successful work that helps develop audience.
- An understanding of the ways readers engage with content on social, search, and mobile platforms, as well as best practices for search optimization.
- Proficiency with a wide range of multimedia tools and formats, including social media, basic html, video, audio, and tools yet to come to market.
- A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. This position is based in Boston, and candidates should be based in the area or willing to move.
The hourly rate for this role is $25.60 - $38.46.
This position is a union position covered by a collective bargaining agreement with the Boston Newspaper Guild.
