DTI is seeking an experienced MuleSoft Architect to support a public utility client with a strong focus on Customer Information System (CIS) integrations for a 5month engagement in Columbus, OH. This role will lead the integration architecture that connects CIS platforms with upstream and downstream utility systems, enabling reliable, secure, and scalable data exchange across the utility landscape.
Consultant must be willing to travel 25% but may require more during critical times
The ideal consultant brings deep MuleSoft expertise combined with hands‑on experience integrating utility CIS environments such as billing, customer care, metering, and field operations systems.

Design and govern
API-led integration patterns
connecting CIS with systems such as:
Billing & Invoicing
CRM / Customer Care
AMI / Meter Data Management (MDM)
OMS / ADMS
Field Service / Work Management
ERP (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Define scalable, reusable APIs to support customer, account, service point, usage, and billing data flows
Collaborate with CIS vendors, utility SMEs, and business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into integration designs
Ensure integrations meet performance, availability, security, and regulatory compliance standards typical of utility environments
Establish standards for error handling, monitoring, logging, and recovery for mission‑critical CIS transactions
Provide architectural guidance and oversight to MuleSoft developers and integration teams
Support testing, deployment planning, cutover activities, and post‑go‑live stabilization
Produce architecture artifacts, interface specifications, and integration documentation
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as a MuleSoft Architect or Senior MuleSoft Integration Lead
Strong hands‑on expertise with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and API‑led connectivity
Direct experience integrating CIS platforms within a utility environment
Solid understanding of utility business processes, including customer lifecycle, billing, usage, and service orders
Experience integrating cloud and on‑premise systems
Strong understanding of API security, including OAuth, token‑based authentication, and data protection
Ability to lead architecture discussions and work directly with utility stakeholders
Excellent communication, documentation, and consulting skills
Preferred Qualifications
MuleSoft Certification(s) (Architect, Developer, Integration)
Experience with utility CIS platforms (e.g., Oracle Utilities, SAP IS‑U, CC&B, C2M, or similar)
Familiarity with DevOps / CI‑CD pipelines and integration monitoring tools
