Building Automation DDC Programmer
My client is a top-notch Energy Management and Building Automation firm. They are actively seeking a professional with 5+ years of Building Automation Programming and/or Design experience.
Job Details Location: Multiple locations in Colorado
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
Work in office support and on job sites
Communicate with customers and in-house technical/engineering staff
Program and commission local DDC and network controllers and the BAS front‑end computers per sequences of operation and contract documents
Integrate with 3rd party systems/equipment such as BACnet, LON, and Modbus on chillers, boilers, VFDs, generators, rooftop units (RTUs), VRFs, FAS, etc.
Follow company established programming standards and precedents
Provide onsite and offsite technical support during installation, start‑up, commissioning and turnover processes
Participate in onsite walk-throughs, formal commissioning and customer demonstrations/training on assigned projects
Organize and maintain job folder and update pertinent job-related information
Complete all project closeout documentation, including program backups and as-built drawings
Complete assigned projects on time, within budget, and per contractual requirements
Write progress reports to the Project Manager and participate in progress meetings as directed
Promote, maintain, and enhance new and existing customer relationships
Organize, file, and track all project coordination and correspondence
Accurately document project requests for change orders, change orders, and project close‑out, including timely processing of O&M and as-built packages
Learn all software programs utilized in the day‑to‑day business operations of the company
Qualifications
BS in Building Automation Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or an Associate’s Degree in Building Automation Systems (BAS), Electronics or equivalent job experience in the controls industry
5+ years of experience programming BAS and integrating with third party equipment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Advanced computer skills, including creating graphics for commercial BAS graphical user interfaces
Solid knowledge and practical experience with computer networks and BAS networks
Advanced knowledge of controls concepts and strategies for commercial building HVAC mechanical systems
Strong understanding of commercial building mechanical & electrical operations
Understanding and practical experience with the electrical and electronics concepts associated with BAS Direct Digital Control Systems (DDC)
Experience programming the following product lines is preferred: Andover, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, Tridium, and Niagara. Programming experience with other BAS platforms is a plus.
Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints proficiently
Physical ability to walk construction sites, including stairs and ladders
Practical experience with commercial building construction site conditions, layouts, and safety practices
Additional Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related experience
Short‑ and long‑term processing abilities with safety compliance, company policies, project contractual requirements, and documentation accuracy
