The Team This role sits within A&M’s Financial Services Industry group and focuses on strategy and transformation engagements for Asset and Wealth Management clients, including traditional and alternative asset managers, wealth platforms, and asset servicers. The role is ideal for experienced strategy or management consultants with deep Financial Services expertise seeking increased responsibility, client exposure, and impact.

How You Will Contribute You are a client‑facing consulting leader with deep experience across Asset and Wealth Management industry ecosystem (traditional and alternative asset managers, wealth platforms, asset servicers), serving as a trusted advisor to executives at traditional and alternative asset managers, wealth platforms, asset servicers, and financial sponsors. You bring a strong consulting toolkit and mindset—structured problem solving, executive communication, and rigorous analytics—and are excited to apply it to some of the most complex challenges facing the industry today. You will work closely with C‑suite and senior leadership teams to help clients define strategy, execute transformation, and deliver measurable results, often in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments.

This is a hybrid, in‑office role based in New York, NY or Boston, MA.

The Work You will lead the day‑to‑day execution of consulting engagements across Asset and Wealth Management, including:

Owning end‑to‑end delivery of consulting workstreams—problem definition, hypothesis development, analysis, and executive‑ready recommendations

Leading project planning, workplan development, and team management, while communicating progress and risks to clients and A&M leadership

Developing clear, data‑driven insights and executive‑level deliverables (presentations, financial models, operating frameworks), either directly or by guiding junior team members

Managing day‑to‑day client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor

Leading and facilitating client meetings, working sessions, and presentations

Managing project scope, timelines, and economics while maintaining a sustainable pace of work

Working across multiple stakeholders (investment, distribution, operations, technology, finance, risk/compliance) to influence decision‑making and align on outcomes

In addition, you will:

Contribute to firm‑wide intellectual capital, including methodologies, playbooks, and thought leadership relevant to Asset & Wealth Management

Support business development efforts, including proposal development and participation in pitch meetings

Stay close to industry trends and disruptors (private markets growth, ETF innovation, digital advice, data/AI, regulatory change)

Mentor and coach Managers, Consultants, and Analysts, reinforcing strong consulting fundamentals and career development

Here’s What You Need

Minimum 8 years of experience in strategy consulting or management consulting, corporate strategy, or a related advisory role supporting Asset Management and/or Wealth Management clients

Prior experience at a top‑tier consulting firm (MBB, Big 4 Strategy, or well‑regarded boutique financial services consultancy) strongly preferred

Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas within Asset or Wealth Management:

Growth Strategy & Business Model Transformation

Operating Model & Cost Transformation

Mergers & Acquisitions (commercial due diligence, integration)

Pricing, revenue, and margin optimization

Platform, data, and technology modernization

Digital, analytics, and AI‑enabled transformation

Proven ability to lead consulting engagements and teams, manage multiple workstreams, and deliver high‑quality outcomes in ambiguous environments

Outstanding structured problem‑solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex quantitative and qualitative information

Exceptional PowerPoint and Excel skills (executive storytelling and financial analysis)

Bachelor’s degree required

Bonus Points

You have experience supporting asset managers, alternative investment firms, asset servicers, or wealth platforms across strategy and transformation initiatives

You actively contribute to practice building, thought leadership, and business development

You possess strong executive presence and polished written and verbal communication skills

You hold an MBA or other advanced degree

Experience may include work in strategy consulting, management consulting, financial services consulting, asset management strategy, wealth management strategy, operating model transformation, M&A due diligence, post‑merger integration, or digital transformation.

Provided the eligibility requirements are met, employees will also receive an annual discretionary contribution to their 401(k) retirement savings plan from Alvarez & Marsal. Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy‑two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. Thesalaryrange is $150,000- $225,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
