
About the Role
We are seeking a Customer Service Representative (CSR) to support a high-volume customer service operation involving both inbound calls and in‑person interactions. In this role, you will assist community members seeking information about available properties, auction processes, and community partnership programs. You will also help customers navigate the organization's website and provide guidance on property listings.
Key Responsibilities
Handle 50‑100 inbound calls per day regarding available properties and website information.
Assist walk‑in customers needing support with applications, property details, or website navigation.
Route or transfer calls to other departments when appropriate (minimal outbound calling).
Provide information about community partnership programs, including inquiries from nonprofits and faith‑based organizations.
Maintain professionalism in a customer‑facing environment with both phone and in‑person interactions.
Top Skills & Qualifications
Must Have:
1+ year of call center or face‑to‑face customer service experience
Strong verbal and written communication
Problem‑solving abilities
Ability to multitask effectively
Nice to Have:
Experience in non‑profit or community‑focused organizations
2+ years of call center experience
Disqualifiers:
Poor attitude or unwillingness to learn
No prior customer service experience
Work Environment
Fully onsite in a downtown Detroit office located in a historic high‑rise building.
Team of 7‑8 Customer Service Representatives.
Dedicated cubicle for call center work; rotating front desk responsibilities for walk‑ins.
Social and friendly team culture.
Business casual dress code; jeans allowed on Fridays.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Detroit, MI.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
