
The Director of Finance is responsible for managing the company’s accounting and financial operations while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all processes. Reporting to the CFO, this role will oversee 3-4 accounting professionals and is accountable for financial reporting, month-and-year-end closings, corporate tax compliance, annual reviews/audits and cash management.
The Director of Finance will work closely with the CFO and external accountants to provide timely and accurate financial information that supports decision making. This position also plays a key role in developing staff, implementing internal controls, costing, FP&A and compliance issues across the business. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, proactive, and committed to strengthening the company’s financial foundation.
Responsibilities Team Management
Manage and develop a team of 3–4 accounting staff.
Provide coaching, training, and corrective feedback to help employees reach their potential.
Hold employees accountable for performance, attitude, and behavior.
Ensure Accounting department meets organizational goals.
Prepare, summarize, and present accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports in accordance with GAAP.
Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
Manage corporate tax year activities and support year-end reviews.
Work with outside accountants on audits, tax filings, and reviews.
Support costing analysis across all departments.
Monitor KPI’s and develop dashboards to support data-driven decision making
Accounting Operations
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and sales commission processes.
Manage fixed assets, including tracking and reporting.
Ensure proper cash management, including maintenance, forecasting, and reconciliation of accounts.
Monitor and reconcile foreign currency balances as needed.
Bill, collect, report, and administer compliance with state sales and use tax laws.
Input transactions, prepare journal entries, and reconcile accounts as necessary.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
7+ years of progressive accounting management experience, with proven responsibility for financial reporting, compliance, and operational oversight
Experience managing and developing a small accounting team
Strong knowledge of corporate tax compliance, and month-year-end closings
Hands‑on experience with AP, AR, fixed assets, cash management and general ledger reconciliations
Proficiency in ERP software; Epicor Kinetic knowledge preferred
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial performance, explain variances, and support cost analysis across departments
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and work effectively with external accountants
Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
