
Job Summary
(Position Location: Can be located in Columbus, GA or Scottsdale, AZ)
The Director of Media & Growth is responsible for building and leading a best-in-class, performance-driven media organization that accelerates growth across brands and channels. This role owns paid media strategy and execution, retail media strategy, analytics and measurement, and test-and-learn capabilities, ensuring that marketing investments drive measurable, incremental business impact.
Operating in a retail-dominant environment, the Director of Media & Growth partners closely with Brand, Trade Marketing, Creative & Content, Research & Insights, and DTC eCommerce to integrate media, data, and creative into a unified growth engine.
This leader balances strategic vision, analytical rigor, and hands-on execution, while building scalable processes, modern measurement frameworks, and high-performing teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Define and lead the media and growth strategy for Outdoor Brands across performance marketing, retail media, and digital channels.
Establisha clear vision, operating model, and roadmap for the Media & Growth Center of Excellence.
Serve as the senior SME for media effectiveness, growth analytics, and experimentation.
Act as a strategic advisor to the VP, Marketing and brand leadership on investment decisions and growth opportunities.
Performance & Retail Media
Own all paid media activation and optimization, including search, social, programmatic, display, and retail media platforms.
Lead retail media strategy and execution across key partners (e.g., Amazon, Walmart, Lowe’s, The Home Depot), in close coordination with Trade Marketing and Sales team.
Ensure paid media investments align with brand priorities, retail calendars, and promotional strategies.
Drive continuous optimization to improve ROAS, CPA, and incremental sales lift.
Analytics, Measurement & Experimentation
Build andmaintain a unified measurement framework across brands and media channels.
Establisha single sourceof truth for media performance and ROI across brands and channels.
Lead a structured test-and-learn program (creative, audiences, offers, formats) to fuel ongoing optimization.
Translate data and insights into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with:
Brand & Category Teams to align media plans with growth objectives.
Creative & Content to drive performance-optimized creative development.
Trade Marketing to integrate media with retail activation.
Research & Insights to apply consumer and shopper learnings.
DTC eCommerce & CRM to leveragefirst-party data and testing insights.
Lead quarterly planning, monthly optimization reviews, and executive performance readouts.
Team, Process & Capability Building
Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team across performance marketing, retail media, and analytics.
Establishscalable workflows, governance, and intake processes for brand teams.
Own agency and platform partner relationships, ensuring best-in-class execution and value.
Qualification Requirements Required
8–12+ years of experience in media strategy, performance marketing, or growth marketing
Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and agencies
Deep expertise in paid media platforms (search, social, programmatic, CTV, retail media)
Strong analytical and measurement background (ROI, attribution, incrementality)
Experience working in a multi-brand, retail-centric environment
Ability to translate data into executive-level insights and recommendations
Preferred
Experience with retail media networks (Amazon Ads, Amazon Marketing Cloud, DSPs, Walmart Connect, Lowe’s Media Network, The Home Depot Orange Apron, etc.)
Familiarity with DTC and CRM ecosystems (first-party data, CDPs)
Experience building or scaling a media COE or shared services model
Background in consumer goods (durables preferred), home improvement, or adjacent categories
