
AccuWeather is looking for a highly technical
Director, Solutions Engineering . The Director, Solutions Engineering, will lead the Solutions Engineering team and sit at the intersection of sales, product, and our customers’ engineering teams. You’ll partner closely with Account Executives to drive new business and expansion, deeply understand customer requirements, and design solutions that show how our APIs, data, and products will plug into each client’s environment. Key Responsibilities
Partner with the sales team throughout the deal cycle as the
primary technical point of contact .
Lead technical discovery with prospects and customers to understand their
systems, workflows, and integration requirements .
Design and articulate
end‑to‑end solution architectures showing
how our APIs, data, and products integrate into customer environments.
Deliver tailored
product demos, technical deep‑dives, and proofs of concept (POCs)
that address customer use cases.
Join sales calls and presentations to handle
technical questions, objections, and solution design in
real time.
Solution Design & Implementation Support
Translate customer business problems into
clear technical solutions , integration patterns, and implementation plans.
Work closely with customer engineering, data, and IT teams to
define data flows, API usage, error handling, and security considerations .
Create
technical documentation , reference architectures, and integration guides to support customer implementation.
Ensure what’s promised in pre‑sales is
realistic, supportable, and aligned with
our product capabilities.
RFPs & Technical Documentation
Own the
technical portions of RFPs/RFIs , questionnaires, and security/compliance reviews.
Coordinate with product, engineering, and legal to produce
accurate, complete, and on‑time responses .li>
Maintain a library of
reusable RFP answers, diagrams, and technical collateral
to streamline future responses.
Product Feedback & Roadmap Influence
Act as the
voice of the customer internally : capture and synthesize feature requests, gaps, and recurring patterns.
Work closely with Product Management to
influence the roadmap
based on market feedback and deal‑critical requirements.
Help validate new features with early customers and bring insights back into the organization.
Internal Collaboration & Enablement
Train and enable the sales team on
product capabilities, positioning, and technical talking points .
Collaborate with marketing on
technical content
(solution briefs, integration one‑pagers, FAQs, etc.).
Contribute to internal
best practices, playbooks, and templates for solution design and sales engineering .
Lead a team of solutions engineers.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
8‑10 years in a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Pre‑Sales Engineer, or similar technical customer‑facing role (or equivalent experience as a software engineer with strong customer exposure).
Strong technical background in at least one of:
APIs and integrations (REST, webhooks, OAuth, SDKs)
Data products (data feeds, ETL, data modeling, data platforms)
Cloud / SaaS architectures
Proven experience designing or explaining solution architectures to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills—able to turn complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives.
Comfort joining sales calls, handling objections, and collaborating closely with Account Executives.
Strong requirements‑gathering and problem‑solving skills; you ask good questions and connect dots quickly.
1‑3 years experience leading, managing and motivating a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of government RFPs processes; aggregating and preparing responses and presentations.
Experience working in weather data space supporting businesses.
Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns, security standards, and scalable architectures.
Prior experience managing POCs, pilots, or limited production rollouts.
Experience with RFP/RFI processes and tools.
Background in software engineering, solutions architecture, or technical consulting.
