position. The role requires approximately ten hours per week, with additional responsibilities during major liturgical seasons. Regular commitments include Sunday worship at 11:00 a.m. and Wednesday evening choir rehearsals. As well as planning and leading music for worship, the Director of Music will oversee the process of identifying, evaluating, and securing a qualified church organist and/or pianist, with the support and participation of church leadership throughout the search. Respectfully, Music Search Committee Christ Central Presbyterian Church Christ Central Presbyterian Church, an established church in the heart of Tampa, is looking to hire a Director of Music. We are a congregation of the Reformed Tradition rooted in the Westminster Standards. Our worship service follows a liturgical format, with a mixture of corporate prayers and confession, hymn singing, and choir anthems to accompany the ministry of the Word and the sacraments. We have traditionally used the organ, piano, and an occasional string quartet for instrumental accompaniment. Qualifications and Skills

Experience and competency in directing a choir, forming individual members of various proficiencies into a unified voice. Knowledge and experience in liturgical worship and familiarity with Reformation theology, or a willingness to learn and become accustomed to our tradition. Proficiency as an organist and/or pianist is a plus; however, networking ability to locate and secure competent accompanists in the Tampa Bay region is sufficient and (The music budget includes funds for accompanists, instrumentalists, and occasional singers as needed.) Proficient in classical music, yet flexible to experiment with different styles as Ability to actively engage the congregation during worship through music, and to encourage and enhance congregational singing. Interpersonal skills to recruit and audition potential choir members and instrumentalists from within the congregation. A professing Christian who understands the importance of integrity in life and the dynamics of a local church music program. A Bachelor’s degree in music performance, church/sacred music, or other related field is Ability to pass a comprehensive background Job Expectations

In collaboration with the Pastor, seek to nurture joy, reverence, and participation in music as part of the congregation’s life and worship. Participate in regular staff meetings with the Pastor and other staff as Select music appropriate to the liturgical season for congregational singing, choral anthems, and/or instrumental reflection. Whenever possible, be available for weddings and funerals (with supplemental compensation). Make arrangements for a substitute for yourself and accompanists when Foster collegiality, motivate the highest possible musical quality, and nurture spiritual growth within the choir. Working conditions

The Director of Music is a part-time position, approximately 10 hours per week; however, compensation will be on a salaried basis. There will be times during the church year when additional hours will be necessary for the mission and ministry of the church. These include, but are not limited to: Christmas Eve Christmas Day (when the day falls on a Sunday) Maundy Thursday or Good Friday Easter Sunday Thanksgiving Eve Regular worship services at Christ Central Church are on Sundays at 11:00 a.m., and choir practice is ordinarily on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
