
User Experience Designer
HireTalent - Staffing & Recruiting Firm, New York, New York, us, 10261
Our internal intranet is over a decade old, grown organically into approximately
400 sites , and now in need of thoughtful re-architecture. We are stepping back to re-examine how information is organized, discovered, and consumed across the organization.
The User Experience Designer will focus on understanding
user needs , translating them into
modern, intuitive navigation and content structures , and clearly documenting recommendations for implementation by a technical team.
This is a
research-heavy, detail-oriented role
requiring strong communication, analytical thinking, and the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Develop
persona types
representing internal colleague groups
Conduct interviews with
30–40+ stakeholders
across the organization
Synthesize findings into actionable insights that inform intranet structure and navigation
Design and document proposed intranet navigation and content structures
Apply UX and information design principles to improve usability and findability
Create visual representations (e.g., wireframes, structure diagrams) to communicate ideas
Content Audit & Analysis
Perform a comprehensive
content audit
across ~400 intranet sites
Identify outdated, redundant, or low-value content
Analyze usage data and reports to understand how content is accessed and consumed
Define logical content “buckets” aligned to user needs
Communication & Presentation
Document research findings and recommendations clearly and thoroughly
Present insights to:
Internet team (8 people)
Site owners group (~50 people)
Communicate effectively with both senior stakeholders and junior colleagues
Partner closely with the hiring manager
Collaborate with the broader Internet team
Hand off UX and IA recommendations to a separate technical implementation team
Required Skills & Experience
Strong background in
UX / User Experience
or
Information Architecture
Proven experience conducting user research and stakeholder interviews
Ability to analyze large amounts of content and synthesize insights
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Experience documenting and presenting complex information to large groups
Comfortable working in highly detailed, research-driven projects
Preferred Qualifications
Degree preferred (not required)
Master’s in Library Science, Information Science , or similar background strongly preferred
Experience in
professional services environments
such as:
Consulting
Finance
Banking
Legal organizations
Familiarity with:
Figma
(for visualizing content structures)
Analytics tools (e.g., usage reports, content analytics platforms such as Piwik/Matomo)
SharePoint and Microsoft 365 environments
