
Senior Database Administrator
Dice is the leading career destination for tech experts at every stage of their careers. Our client, Randstad Digital Manual LLC, is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support multiple openings at its headquarters in Woburn, MA.
Responsibilities • Administer, test, design, deploy on‑premises and cloud database environments and systems. • Architect high availability and disaster recovery solutions and applications using replication. • Perform maintenance tasks such as upgrades, patching, backups, restores, provisioning, and configuration across hybrid environments. • Archive, index, and troubleshoot issues by performing root cause analysis. • Review performance, data integrity, monitoring, and alerting solutions; tune databases, queries, buffer pools, memory, and storage. • Plan projects, define requirements, produce code, and conduct capacity planning. • Ensure security, manage credentials, conduct audits, maintain compliance, address vulnerabilities, and implement remediations. • Develop automation scripts, database clustering, mirroring, and failover strategies; build pipelines, workflows, and schemas. • Produce technical documentation and automate build and deployment processes. • Resolve incidents, collaborate with vendors, and evaluate emerging database technologies and features. • Recommend database modifications to satisfy client/user needs.
Qualifications • Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field, with at least 2 years of experience in a senior database role or as a Developer, Software Engineer, Technology Analyst, Programmer Analyst, or related occupation. • Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in the specified fields with at least 5 years of progressive post‑baccalaureate experience in the specified occupations. • Minimum 2 years of experience administering on‑premises and cloud environments; architecting high availability and disaster recovery solutions; using replication; performing upgrades, patching, backups, restores, and scripting. • Proven expertise in reviewing performance, monitoring, and alerting solutions, databases, queries, buffer pools, memory, and storage. • Strong knowledge of security, audits, encryption, access control, and vulnerability remediation. • Experience with Linux, Shell, PowerShell, Python, AWS, Terraform, MarkLogic, XQuery, MLCP, and CORB. • Ability to travel/relocate across the US on short notice for extended periods; telecommuting permitted.
