Industrial Designer II – Bellevue, Washington
Position: Industrial Designer II (multiple positions available) – 40 hrs/week, 8:00am-5:00pm. Salary Range: $144,477 – $160,000 per year.
Additional compensation may include sign‑on bonus, RSUs, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
Responsibilities
Invent, design, and implement engineering solutions to complex material flow/transformation and human/machine efficiency problems throughout the global Amazon supply chain.
Lead and coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the fulfillment and transportation network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
Collaborate with internal teams to generate high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions in very short periods of time.
Provide technical leadership for large‑scale engineering projects.
Evaluate and create physical processing and material storage solutions using cutting‑edge technology, robotics, and data analytics to meet product flow requirements based on Amazon design principles.
Identify and analyze key operational and financial metrics as part of program and feature selection to drive smart decisions.
Coordinate with systems and operations engineering teams to develop product features and optimize the performance of the fulfillment centers.
Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and effectively influence, negotiate, and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors, and vendors.
Develop models as required to solve complex problems using various Autodesk products.
Domestic or international travel up to 25% may be required.
Qualifications Education & Experience:
A master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related discipline and at least 3 years of experience in industrial or mechanical engineering; or
A bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related discipline plus at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering.
Required Experience (minimum 3 years):
Complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high‑speed manufacturing.
Process design based on Lean Principles.
System architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analyses, statistical analyses, reliability analyses, and decision making.
Management of engineering design projects.
Quantitative and qualitative data to drive improvements.
