Overview
This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations, offering counseling and education to service members and their families. Services include one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, workshops, and referrals to external resources. The counselor collaborates with installation and military branch points of contact to ensure program scope and needs are met.
Responsibilities
Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
Assist in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
Develop and provide informational financial materials.
Coordinate, publicize and deliver a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering topics across the military lifecycle, including deployment phases and career events.
Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communications, including secure online chat, web‑based or video‑teleconference as authorized by OSD FINRED Program office.
Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to DoD protocol.
Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trends and issues.
Engage in regular in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees or other contract activities as assigned.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; associate degree plus 4 years of experience or high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may be considered.
3+ years of financial counseling experience.
U.S. citizenship and fluent English required; bilingual in English and Spanish if required.
Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 security investigation.
Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
Must hold at least one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Must understand, comply with and attest to the security responsibilities and controls unique to the position and comply with all applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.

Salary : $58,440 – $93,500 per year (may vary by location and experience)
