Overview
The Packaging, Crating & Shipping position is responsible for daily operations in the packaging and shipping department. This role requires hands-on carpentry skills to build, repair, and modify shipping crates and specialized packaging to ensure safe transport of products. The individual will work closely with production, logistics, and customer service teams to meet deadlines while maintaining safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Carpentry & Crating
Build custom wooden crates, pallets, and supports for metal products.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and packaging specifications.
Repair and modify crates as needed to meet shipping requirements.
Ensure compliance with ISPM-15 and other international crating standards.
Packaging & Shipping Operations
Pack products using protective materials to prevent damage.
Prepare and verify shipping documents, labels, and freight paperwork.
Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics partners.
Track shipments and resolve shipping issues or delays.
Maintain inventory of packaging materials, lumber, and supplies.
Quality & Safety
Perform quality checks on packaging, crating, and shipping procedures.
Follow company safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Support continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Qualifications: Experience : 3+ years in packaging, shipping, or warehouse operations.
Carpentry Skills : Strong background in woodworking, crate building, and use of carpentry tools and equipment.
Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, nail guns, saws, and other power tools safely.
Knowledge of shipping regulations (domestic & international preferred).
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Basic computer skills for shipping software, inventory systems, and documentation.
Physical Requirements: Full Time Monday - Friday 7am - 4pm
Report to Production Manager / Operations Manager
Pay is TBD in interview dependent on experience
Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly.
Working outside conditions in Phoenix, AZ - Hot / Cold Temperatures depending on Season
Extended standing, bending, and working with hand and power tools.
