General Summary We are looking for a seasoned Staff Product Manager to lead the development and execution of our IoT initiatives in the Consumer segment. This role requires close collaboration with internal teams such as development, product, business, and finance, as well as direct engagement with external customers to ensure our solutions address market needs.
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Android OS and Linux (Yocto) platforms, extensive product management experience, and the ability to work cross‑functionally and influence stakeholders. Experience in IoT and Consumer product segment environments is highly preferred, and familiarity with OEMs and ODMs is a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with a proven track record of driving product strategy from concept to launch, are essential.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Humanities, or related field.
5+ years of Product Management or related work experience.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with chipset product managers to collect requirements and ensure compatibility and peak performance across Android and Linux (Yocto) platforms.
Assess IoT Consumer market segments to shape software platform strategies and maximize component reuse.
Offer technical leadership on IoT chipset features supported on Android and Linux distributions, collaborating closely with technical support teams.
Drive seamless collaboration between software engineering, hardware, quality assurance, marketing, and sales teams to align objectives and facilitate smooth project execution.
Provide clear, ongoing communication to stakeholders through regular updates on project progress, risks, and key changes.
Thoroughly document requirements, technical specifications, user guides, and release notes for Android and Linux‑based Consumer segment products.
Prioritize product features and improvements by evaluating market trends, customer input, technical constraints, and strategic objectives.
Work with engineering teams to optimize resource allocation, balancing feature development, bug fixes, and reduction of technical debt.
Identify cost‑saving opportunities in software through upstreaming, design optimization, or outsourcing.
Lead the creation of advanced Consumer segment solutions based on Android and Linux platforms, overseeing new product initiatives with robust cross‑functional coordination.
Define use cases and participate in architecture decisions for Consumer segment, contributing requirements for SDKs, software stacks, and solution value propositions.
Manage Consumer segment sub‑verticals and the product management team to deliver a unique and differentiated product roadmap.
Develop and implement long‑term innovation strategies for Consumer segment products, identifying gaps and ensuring strategic alignment.
Design and execute communication plans with internal teams, external vendors, and senior leadership to support relationship‑building and achievement of product goals.
Foster effective cross‑functional teamwork to meet customer expectations and adhere to product timelines.
Translate customer needs and market shifts into actionable feature requests for an outstanding Consumer segment product roadmap.
Demonstrate originality and innovation by creating new ideas, products, and processes tailored to the Consumer segment market, often in uncharted areas.
Work independently with minimal supervision, taking initiative to drive projects and deliver results.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of Product Management or related work experience.
3+ years working in a large matrixed organization.
2+ years working with operating budgets and/or project financials.
2+ years negotiating 3rd party business agreements.
Practical experience with Android internals.
Practical understanding of how the panel interacts with mobile SoCs, display drivers, and OS display frameworks (Android Display Subsystem), including understanding of display technologies.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative, innovative environment, including experience in discussing complex ideas with partners, customers, and executives.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
This is an office‑based position in San Diego, CA, and requires compliance with the company’s onsite work policy.
Pay Range $179,200.00 - $268,800.00
