Job Description The Instructional Designer III in Geomatics provides both local and statewide support to Geomatics faculty in teaching and administering Geomatics courses and labs at the WFREC. The position acts as lead instructor for field labs and provides classroom and technology‑based trainings to meet organization and student needs. The ID‑III works with FFGS faculty and staff in maintaining the Geomatics undergraduate and graduate curriculum and recruits and guides prospective students through the admission process. The role also advises current students and program staff in career planning and meeting curriculum requirements necessary for graduation, explores opportunities for new academic offerings such as certificates or degrees, and may require weekend and/or evening delivery of courses and labs.

The ID‑III at WFREC supports the statewide Geomatics Extension program by developing and delivering a local extension/outreach program across the West Florida region. Efforts focus on recruiting and training current and future surveying/mapping technicians in West Florida through comprehensive learning and training programs. The position coordinates closely with the Geomatics Extension program director, attends and coordinates meetings with local surveying societies and GIS professional groups, acts as a liaison between the educational community and the professional geospatial community, measures outcomes of outreach workforce development events, and is responsible for promotional efforts at the local level.

The ID‑III also develops and maintains office and field equipment inventory related to spatial data collection and analysis, ensures that appropriate software, hardware, and field equipment are accessible in the WFREC labs, and advises Geomatics/FFGS administration on the purchase of data, equipment, and software needed for teaching activities. Additional duties may be assigned by the immediate supervisor and FFGS director.
