OVERVIEW The D. E. Shaw group seeks an experienced professional to join its Human Capital team as an Immigration and Global Mobility specialist, with a primary focus on immigration. This role will help lead the firm’s immigration strategy and operations, ensure legal compliance, advise employees, and support select global mobility initiatives—including relocations and short‑term assignments—to enable smooth cross‑border transitions. This position offers the chance to work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, streamline processes through technology, and strengthen the firm’s ability to attract and retain top international talent.

WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY

Be a key point of contact for all global immigration matters, supporting end-to-end work authorization, visa applications, and compliance across the U.S., the UK, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Bermuda.

Advise recruiters and hiring managers on options for new hires and transfers, assess eligibility, and coordinate with external counsel to ensure timely, accurate cases.

Oversee audits, maintain documentation, and deliver training on best practices.

Coordinate relocations, support tax and compliance needs, manage assignment documentation, and work with payroll and benefits teams to ensure seamless international moves.

Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation and data-driven insights.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor’s degree required, with 10–12 years of relevant immigration and global mobility experience, with significant emphasis on immigration program management.

Deep knowledge of U.S. and international immigration processes, regulations, and compliance requirements, with experience handling complex multi-region cases.

Proven ability to advise stakeholders at all levels on immigration strategy, timelines, and requirements and ensure an excellent employee experience.

Solid organizational, analytical, and project management skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative way of working with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Experience using technology and process improvements to boost efficiency and accuracy in immigration and mobility operations.

The expected annual base salary for this position is $200,000 to $250,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
