About The Campaigns Team The Campaigns team is a leading Democratic political consulting and direct mail firm with a record of winning tough races. We have an in‑house creative studio that specializes in brand strategy, copywriting, design and direct mail production. We serve as creative partners to our clients, helping them solve their biggest challenges from brainstorming to creative production and execution. Together, we’re a team of strategists, copywriters, branding experts, designers and strategists.

About This Role We are looking for an enthusiastic writer with a natural talent for storytelling and an interest in politics and social impact causes. The ideal candidate can capture our candidates’ and organizations’ passion through messaging that speaks to people’s hearts and minds. You should be a true collaborator, ready to roll up your sleeves and juggle multiple clients under tight deadlines without missing a beat.

Role location:

This role is based in our New York, N.Y., or Washington, D.C. office on a hybrid basis. The Campaigns team is in‑office at least 3 days per week.

Accountabilities & Qualifications

Bring energy and excitement to our creative team

Work collaboratively with design and account teams to translate complex political strategy into accessible creative concepts for direct mail programs

Think quickly on your feet in brainstorming meetings to come up with ideas that can be actioned on and developed

Translate a candidate’s voice and story in a way that resonates with their electorate

Write clear, concise and compelling copy for a client’s direct mail programs that effectively communicates their message, resonates with audiences and inspires action

Manage multiple projects, overlapping timelines and tight deadlines effectively in a fast paced, campaign environment

Proofread your own work (and the work of others) to ensure the copy is error‑free and follows style guide standards

Support cause‑related branding work and non‑political copywriting assignments, as needed

Essential Skills

Understanding of the political landscape

Excellent writing ability, including a mastery of clear prose and clean grammar with enough expertise to know when to break the rules

Aptitude for writing short‑form copy that moves audiences emotionally and politically

Flexibility to adapt creatively to the requirements of different clients and audiences

Power to think both creatively and strategically, independently and as part of a team

Ability to think on your feet and come up with creative ideas and write catchy headlines on the spot during group brainstorming sessions

Ability to meet deadlines and keep track of multiple assignments at once in a fast‑paced environment

Familiarity with project management systems and working with Google Suite

Openness to asking questions, receiving feedback and using it to improve work

Willingness to work long hours and weekends during peak periods

Working at Orchestra The salary for this role is $78,000 annually, prorated.
