About Manville Programs

Manville School, a program of The Baker Center for Children and Families, is a therapeutic day school providing special education, clinical, and behavioral support for students in kindergarten through tenth grade with complex social-emotional, behavioral, and learning needs. Manville serves up to 115 students from over 50 school districts in the greater Boston area and employs approximately 100 educational, clinical, and behavioral staff. It integrates comprehensive, evidence-based clinical services, innovative educational programming, and tiered behavioral supports to promote social-emotional development and academic success. The Opportunity

The Clinical Director is a member of the Manville School senior leadership team and is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the clinical programming. The Clinical Director builds strong relationships, communicates effectively, leads multidisciplinary teams, engages community partners, and partners with the Baker Center Senior Leadership Team. The Clinical Director supports the use of evidence-based clinical practices in a school-based setting and is responsible for hiring, training, and supervision of the clinical staff.

The position is open to candidates with a Doctorate in Psychology and a current Massachusetts Psychologist License in good standing , or to Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers (LICSW) with a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience .

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Manville School senior leadership team and contribute to the development of long- and short-term goals for the school and clinical programs. Establish metrics and oversee outcomes measurement for clinical programming.
  • Supervise the Testing Coordinator to ensure assessments are conducted accurately, efficiently, and per established protocols.
  • Oversee administrative and clinical duties of staff and the clinical training of graduate students in mental health counseling, social work, and psychology programs. Oversee clinicians’ development and implementation of structured treatment plans and interventions.
  • Ensure clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment use structured, evidence-based approaches; provide case management services, and individual and/or family therapy as needed.
  • Make decisions regarding the filing of 51A reports in child abuse and neglect situations according to regulatory guidelines.
  • Oversee schoolwide social-emotional learning curriculum implementation and alignment with PBIS.
  • Design and conduct group and dyad treatment for students with specific emotional and behavioral needs, as necessary.
  • Serve as administrative supervisor to the psychopharmacology service and collaborate on admissions/discharges; conduct crisis screening during the school day when needed.
  • Help develop and maintain training policies, including for an APA-accredited predoctoral psychology internship program.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of in-service trainings with the Manville School leadership team.
  • Chair quarterly and ad hoc multidisciplinary team meetings with teachers, specialists, and milieu staff.

Key Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Doctorate in Psychology with current Massachusetts Licensure preferred.
    • LICSW with at least 3 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of administrative experience supervising clinicians in a therapeutic school-based program, ideally using evidence-based practices.
    • Clinical experience with children and adolescents and their families; experience supervising doctoral students; expertise in psychological evaluation.
    • Trauma-informed care, crisis management, verbal de-escalation, and risk assessment experience.
    • Case management and evaluation to support diagnostic impressions and treatment recommendations.
  • Training:
    • Verbal de-escalation and behavior support strategies.
    • Evidence-based clinical interventions and adapting EBPs to complex presentations.
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated leadership and ability to motivate and supervise effectively.
    • Strong crisis intervention and creative problem-solving abilities.

Salary Range

  • Doctorate in Psychology: $125,000 - $145,000
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker: $115,000 - $145,000
