
Public Affairs Specialist II

Responsible professional work participating in a variety of public information/communication projects and/or publications in the Public Affairs Department. Writes news releases, articles, publications, board summaries, speeches, and talking points. Designs and layout books, brochures, flyers, graphs, promotional items, and nameplates, both internally and for other departments. Plans and executes County special events for both Commissioners and County departments. Exercises some independent judgement and is responsible for assisting in the provision of a variety of County-wide public information services. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior through conferences, reports, and evaluation of results obtained.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Advertising, Public Relations, or related field; minimum of four (4) years of experience in public affairs, advertising, or public relations in area of assignment.
Equivalencies
: Unrelated Bachelor's Degree and five (5 years of related experience; related Associate's Degree and six
(6) years of related experience; graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and eight (8) years of related experience.
Necessary Special Requirements : Completion of required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800 within 6 months of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH :
Public speaking, media relations, marketing or journalism; website design; special event coordination; desktop publishing software, including InDesign, Illustrator; Photoshop, and Premier Pro
(must specify on application) .
