Job Description
A Glimpse of the Job The Communications Coordinator, under general supervision of the director of marketing and communications, coordinates, develops and implements a comprehensive communications program to include marketing, media publications and web support for the Galveston Campus in collaboration with the Division of Information Technologies. Serve as the primary interface for design and strategic planning, site content monitoring, content and resource acquisition and related projects.
Essential Duties/Tasks:
Content Creation, Editing, Website Research, interviews, and writes articles for publications and website. Assures that print, digital communications and web-based products conform to journalistic standards. Fields inquiries from the media and general public regarding departmental activities and publications. In coordination with the manager, creative and department head maintains website in accordance with marketing and branding strategy. Establishes and oversees procedures for authoring web content that align with marketing and communications content strategy. Develops and oversees the implementation of an SEO strategy. Supports the Division of Information Technology staff in training new web content authors on web publishing policies to comply with marketing and communications branding and content strategy. Develop, implement and maintain search engine optimization, online multimedia and assist with social media and new technology integrations. Digital Communications and Other Duties
Develop, manage, and optimize digital content across web, email, and social platforms to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with brand standards. Coordinates with Marketing & Communications on media relations and project management. Monitor digital channels for issues, emerging trends, and engagement opportunities, providing timely updates and responses as needed. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support campaigns, announcements, and crisis communications through targeted digital strategies. Analyze digital performance metrics and user behavior to recommend improvements that enhance reach, accessibility, and user experience. Maintain web governance processes, ensuring content compliance, ADA accessibility, and best practices across all digital platforms. Assists in project management and special event planning. In coordination with creative managers assist in the development of content creation for web platforms. Coordinates departmental strategic communications plan. What You Need To Know

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Three to five years of communications and/or marketing experience Preferred Qualifications
Writing, editing, digital communications, etc. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to present information clearly and concisely. Knowledge of Cascade content management systems Knowledge of digital analytics platforms, including Google Other Requirements and Factors
This position may require nights, weekends and occasional travel. Must be able to work irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and some holidays on occasion. Must hold and maintain a valid drivers license and meet the requirements to drive a university vehicle. Professional attire. This position is security sensitive. This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures. All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.
