Volkswagen Automotive Sales Manager

The Sales Manager ensures customer retention and the profitability of this profit center by recruiting qualified sales personnel; is responsible for appraising, purchasing, reconditioning, displaying, and merchandising the vehicle inventory; and provides the vehicle department with a supply of marketable vehicles within the dealership and management's financial guidelines and purchasing policies. Essential functions include forecasting goals and objectives for sales, hiring and monitoring the performance of sales employees, preparing and administering an annual operating forecast and budget, understanding and complying with regulations that affect vehicle sales, directing and scheduling department activities, assisting salespeople in setting goals, ensuring proper follow up of potential buyers, working with the CRC Department to follow up on vehicle customers, maintaining vehicle inventory, analyzing sales history and local area trends, processing salesperson commission sheets, conducting sales and sales training meetings, establishing and enforcing product-knowledge standards, overseeing salespeople to enhance dealership image and customer satisfaction, helping salespeople close deals, ensuring 100 percent T.O. of each customer to F&I department, communicating with other sales managers regarding units needed for vehicle inventory, ensuring salespeople are informed of all new inventory and current advertising efforts, developing and maintaining outside sources for buying and selling vehicles, enforcing a 60-day vehicle inventory turn policy, planning and controlling the display of inventory, establishing delivery procedures, assisting in the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions, handling customer complaints immediately, attending general communication meetings, maintaining a professional appearance, and adhering to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards. Qualifications include a high school diploma or the equivalent, ability to read and comprehend instructions and information, previous automotive sales experience, a professional appearance and customer-oriented attitude, excellent interpersonal and telephone skills, being well organized and self-motivated, and knowing and understanding the federal, state, and local laws which govern retail. Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, handling, reaching, crouching, far vision, depth perception, and talking. Environmental conditions include working outside in weather and inside a climate-controlled environment. Appearance and attitude set the stage for everything. Dress code requires a company polo or shirt and tie for all men and business professional for all women. Behavior requires a positive mental attitude and honoring the absent.
