The Senior Geophysicist serves as a technical leader responsible for the planning, execution, interpretation, and reporting of complex geophysical investigations to characterize subsurface conditions. This role provides advanced technical expertise, mentors junior staff, supports business development efforts, and collaborates closely with engineers, geologists, and clients to deliver high-quality solutions. This position requires a high level of independent judgment, technical proficiency, and the ability to manage projects from concept through delivery. Responsibilities
Lead and execute advanced non-invasive geophysical surveys, to support geotechnical, environmental, and infrastructure projects Independently analyze, interpret, and validate geophysical data, ensuring accuracy and defensibility of results Prepare and review technical reports, interpretations, and client deliverables, serving as a subject matter expert Integrate geophysical data with geological and engineering models in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior geophysicists and staff Support proposal development, including scope definition, technical approaches, and cost estimates Recommend and implement process improvements, methodologies, and emerging technologies to enhance data collection and analysis Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and project discussions as a trusted advisor Conduct field site visits and oversee field operations, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to project requirements Complete time, labor, and project documentation in accordance with company policy Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in geophysics, geology, or related geoscience Ability to obtain Geologist-in-Training (GIT) and/or Professional Geologist (PG) licensure Ability to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clients Ability to learn how to use Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) Mathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Reasoning ability and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, and diagram form Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of professional geophysical experience, including independent data interpretation and reporting Prior experience in consulting environments supporting geotechnical, environmental, or infrastructure projects Experience mentoring or training junior technical staff Involvement in proposal development and client-facing work Familiarity with advanced data processing software and interpretation tools Travel Requirements
This position requires travel, approximately up to 25% to 50% of the time, in support of business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work. Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment. The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions. The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
