Job Title: Director, Air Force

SUMMARY Agile Defense seeks a dedicated Director to support our US Air Force Business Unit (BU) in overseeing, managing, and growing government IT programs. This senior leadership role encompasses the overall performance, strategic direction, and revenue generation of the AF BU. The Director will be responsible for day-to-day operations and management of the program & portfolio leaders, ensuring tasks are executed efficiently and effectively, as well as helping secure growth and expansion of the AF BU– acting as a liaison to our Growth/Business Development team by helping secure new contracts and new clients. The Director will assist in planning, strategy development, risk management, stakeholder communication, and program execution, working closely with the Air Force General Manager and Vice President to achieve BU objectives.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership and Oversight:

Provide strategic direction and oversight for multiple programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations.

Lead and mentor Program Managers, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Develop and implement strategies to enhance program performance, growth, and innovation.

Monitor program health and performance, making strategic adjustments as necessary to ensure success.

Business Development and Revenue Generation:

Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the program portfolio and drive revenue growth.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry partners to support long‑term business development.

Lead proposal development and strategic planning efforts, ensuring the alignment of new opportunities with organizational goals.

Oversee program finances, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to budgetary constraints.

High‑Level Risk and Issue Management:

Identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact the success of the programs, leveraging strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Proactively resolve high‑level issues and challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to program operations.

Conduct regular risk assessments and implement strategic contingency plans to address potential issues.

Executive Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration:

Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior government clients, industry partners, and internal teams.

Facilitate effective communication across all levels of the organization, ensuring transparency and alignment with strategic program goals.

Provide regular updates on program status, progress, and issues to senior management and stakeholders.

Develop and present detailed program reports, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

Measure and monitor program performance to ensure delivery of high-quality solutions, establishing and tracking program‑related KPIs.

Continuously improve program processes by analyzing performance metrics, gathering feedback, and implementing best practices.

Advocate for innovative approaches and technologies to enhance program performance and client satisfaction.

Promote the value of effective program management within Agile Defense and among clients, ensuring the adoption of best practices and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS Education, Background, and Years of Experience

A background in Air Force programs is strongly preferred. Candidates typically possess a Bachelors and 10+ years of relevant experience.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills

Familiarity with enterprise software development and agile methods.

Ability to work independently and lead teams

Ability to brief colleagues and leadership

Ability to coach and willingness to learn from others

Ability to work in a high energy environment

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with AF structure, key players and offices, and ability to make connections at high levels of leadership.

Ability to hold CAC and access to AFBs preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS Environmental Conditions

Remote work or on site if preferred at Agile Defense headquarters in McLean, VA.

Significant travel expected to clients, industry events, etc.

Strength Demands

Sedentary – 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required.
