Summary The ideal candidate for the Executive Director position at YPAL is a dynamic and strategic leader with strong organizational skills who is capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects and deadlines. This individual will spearhead fundraising efforts, oversee event planning, and build strategic community partnerships. Excellent communication skills are essential for effectively representing YPAL to external constituents and fostering positive stakeholder relationships. Additionally, they will manage daily administrative operations, ensuring the efficient execution of YPAL’s policies and goals. The Executive Director reports to the YPAL President and works closely with the Board of Directors.

General Responsibilities Fundraising & Financial Management

Plan, develop, and direct fundraising activities to support YPAL’s mission and goals.

Evaluate and report on progress toward fundraising goals in collaboration with the President and Board.

Create and manage YPAL’s six-month budget with support from the Treasurer and the Presidential Suite. (~$200,000 annually)

Programs & Events

Plan and execute YPAL events throughout the year in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

Oversee logistics, timelines, and vendor or contractor coordination related to events and programs.

Manage YPAL’s Events and Operations Contractor, when applicable.

Governance & Strategic Leadership

Oversee the execution of YPAL’s strategic priorities in collaboration with the Board and President.

Attend all meetings of the YPAL Board of Directors, the Philanthropy Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Executive Committee.

Support board engagement and committee work related to fundraising, programming, and organizational sustainability.

Community & External Relations

Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and strategic community partners.

Represent YPAL’s programs and viewpoints to external constituents, including community organizations, partner agencies, and the public, in collaboration with the President.

Maintain positive relationships with YPAL stakeholders, including the Advisory Council, organizational partners, and past Board members.

Operations & People Management

Manage YPAL’s daily administrative operations in accordance with organizational policies, working closely with the President and Board.

Develop and implement recruitment and retention initiatives aligned with membership goals established with the Board.

Manage event and operations contractor and/or intern, when applicable.

Additional Duties

Perform other duties as assigned by the President or Board of Directors.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience working in a nonprofit.

Demonstrated experience in fundraising and corporate giving.

Demonstrated experience in event planning.

Familiarity with YPAL’s mission/work/impact/etc.

Strong skills in written, verbal, visual design, record keeping, and public speaking.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive base salary in the range of $55,000 to $70,000. The final offer will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
