Cummings Architecture + Interiors is a distinguished firm specializing in residential design throughout eastern Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. Situated in the historic downtown of Ipswich along the Ipswich River, we are a vibrant boutique architecture and interior design practice. Our firm has received numerous awards and has been published locally and nationally.

We are currently in search of a motivated and experienced architectural designer or architect to support our interior team. Our portfolio encompasses a diverse range of projects, including new custom residential homes, additions, historic preservation, and unique commercial designs.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

You're a fit for this role if you have experience in construction documentation, are proficient in Vector Works, and enjoy working with a team of architects and interior designers that bring design dreams to life

This is a good role for someone who is technically proficient and enjoys working with a highly creative, collaborative team dedicated to innovative problem-solving and design excellence

Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design

3-7 years of professional experience

Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques

Experience in construction document preparation and field observation

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)

Proficient in Vector Works, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other 3D modeling software

Responsibilities

As a Technical Designer, you will produce technical documentation and communicate project progress to team members to ensure success

Provide project team coordination for finished plans, specifications, and material selections; ensure design intent is incorporated into the construction documentation

Produce accurate technical and contract documentation for the construction of the project

Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives

Utilize hand and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts
