
Philanthropic Development Consultant Elderhaus / EveryAge Foundation

Elderhaus and the EveryAge Foundation seek a Philanthropic Development Consultant for a project-based, independent-contractor engagement focused on strengthening locally driven fundraising and donor engagement efforts in the Wilmington area.
This consultant will collaborate with the Vice President of Philanthropy, Elderhaus Executive Director, and Foundation leadership to deepen donor relationships, strengthen data systems, and expand community-based philanthropy.
Engagement Details
Independent contractor (1099) engagement
Estimated level of effort: approximately 10–12 hours per week, varying based on project needs
Initial term: February 2026 – February 2027, with potential renewal or expansion based on project outcomes and organizational needs
Location: Preference for consultants familiar with New Hanover County; a mix of on-site and remote work is expected
Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience; consultants may propose a rate structure
Scope of Work I. Relationship Building & Donor Engagement
Build and steward relationships with local donors and prospects
Conduct donor discovery conversations and cultivation outreach
Provide facility tours for cultivation and stewardship purposes
Assist with follow-up and engagement strategies for event attendees and past supporters, especially the October 2025 Elderhaus Celebration Luncheon
Develop re-engagement approaches for former board members and long-time supporters, considering their continued interests, networks, and capacity
Strengthen connections with local civic and community organizations (e.g., Rotary, Government entities, and similar groups) to expand the reach of Elderhaus
II. Database & Portfolio Development
Update and clean donor and constituent records in Bloomerang, including donors, advocates, board members, and volunteers.
Build and refine a qualified prospect list
Capture and track donor and prospect information from past/current/future events and campaigns in Bloomerang
Support development of donor cultivation and stewardship plans based on data insights
III. Strategy & Collaboration
Uncovering compelling impact narratives by learning about the work, stories of families that have been served, and priorities of Elderhaus to inform donor and prospect communications and conversations
Collaborate with organizational leadership to outline practical donor communications and engagement strategies designed to re-engage past donors and identify new ones
Assist in planning donor-focused events such as the annual Celebration Luncheon and other cultivation gatherings
Represent the organization at community or donor meetings as appropriate, in coordination with leadership
Sample Project Goals
Improved accuracy and usability of CRM records
A defined and prioritized prospect pipeline
Documented follow-up strategies for past event attendees and legacy donors
Increased engagement and reactivation of lapsed supporters
Growth in donor participation
Ideal Background
Fund development experience preferred
Familiarity with the New Hanover County philanthropic community
Experience with donor databases/CRMs (Bloomerang preferred)
