Responsibilities
We are seeking someone who is passionate about estimating and enjoys all that's required. The successful Senior Estimator is someone with a great attitude and relationship focus, and the ability to work in cohesion with the entire operations team. Responsibilities include:
Work in partnership with the operations team members to plan the job prior to project initiation including general conditions study, procurement schedule, logistics, etc.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of project strategy and deploy this throughout the estimating process
Complete knowledge of the estimating documents and the ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents
Ability to prepare GMP’s and present Budget Development process from Concept, SD, DD to CD.
Must have conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the owner/architect requirements.
Review and understand all bid documents and assess project risks
Establish the pre-construction budget and manage the associated funds
Ability to prepare comprehensive bid packages and distribute to trades
Coordinate with SDC Self Perform Division for revenue opportunities
Ensures that the best bids are obtained for each trade, based on the needs of the project
Structure a fair and comprehensive final sub bid process by incorporating all information from previous budgets, by educating all subs on the Shawmut view of the project, including, but not limited to detailed written scope of work, logistics, etc., so that they are all bidding on the same work
Review & Level quotes and estimates with Project Team and prepare recommendations
Develop meaningful project specific VE Strategies
Present information and proposals effectively to clients based on their needs and preferences, ensuring customer satisfaction
Must have the ability to be deadline focused in order to time manage several activities / projects
Identify escalation factors in marketplace for specific materials and labor rates
Good leadership, strong team communication both written and verbal
Qualifications
7 to 10+ years’ estimating experience
Expertise Core & Shell, Base Building and Interiors Estimating
Experience should include large commercial, hospitality, mid-rise/mix use projects.
Experienced in estimating all trades including Civil / Structural & MEP
Experienced in Conceptual Estimating & Budgeting
Self-Starter with the ability to work individually & as part of a team
Vast knowledge of all trades: scope, time frames/field execution, typical missed scope/exposures
Solid conceptual estimating experience
Strong computer skills and knowledge of On Screen Take Off, Timberline (Precision Estimating) experience is a plus

Salary Range Information New York Base Salary Range: $130,000 - $220,000.
The range stated is specific to New York. Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles) and internal company equity.
