Job Summary The Community Outreach Specialist (Part-Time) will work 25–30 hours per week across 2–3 days, with early afternoon, evening, and weekend availability, and will report to the Community Engagement Lead. This role involves directly engaging with the public to represent Girl Scouts, promote the benefits of membership, and attract new Girl Scout members, adult volunteers, and community partners within an assigned geographic area. The specialist will serve and travel throughout Abilene and surrounding areas, including Ranger, Tuscola, Munday, and Snyder.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Increase Girl Scouts’ visibility, enhance reputation, and engage in the community through networking, collaboration, and events.

Establish, cultivate, and maintain partnerships and relationships with schools, community organizations, faith-based organizations, and businesses to promote and deliver Girl Scouting within the assigned service area.

Meet or exceed annual new membership recruitment and lead generation goals for girl and adult members.

Plan and execute events that increase community awareness of the benefits and outcomes of Girl Scouts and attract more members and volunteers.

Nurture leads from in-person events and digital campaigns by communicating effectively in writing, by phone, and in person to sell the Girl Scout experience.

Recruit adult volunteers to key leadership positions within a troop.

Use Salesforce to document members and lead communications consistently.

Collaborate closely with departmental management, teammates, and other departments to inform membership and partner development strategies, plans, and tactics.

Identify underserved neighborhoods, understand community needs, and work with other departments at Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains to establish service delivery opportunities that meet those needs.

Ensure all grassroots engagements and activities provide access to Girl Scouting for a diverse population.

Participate in year‑round Girl Scout recruitment campaigns, including fall, winter‑daisy, extended‑year, and summer.

Respond appropriately and professionally through email, phone, and face‑to‑face interactions.

Enhance Girl Scouts’ reputation through interactions with the public.

Manage, organize, and maintain files, logs, operating procedures, and records that relate directly to this position.

Use council reporting tools to analyze and act on new membership and lead data.

Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.

Perform other duties or assist other projects as assigned.

Job Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.

Membership in the Girl Scout organization.

Commitment to the mission and goals of Girl Scouting.

Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy, respect, and professionalism to coworkers, volunteers, and others in contact.

Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance.

Willingness to work with all people regardless of race, religion, ethnic origin, socio‑economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability.

Proven ability to work with volunteers, community leaders, organizations, and businesses.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and produce results.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including travel, nights, and weekends.

Experience using Salesforce software is a plus.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Valid Texas driver’s license, acceptable driving record, insurance, and reliable transportation.

Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Physical demands include frequent talking or hearing, use of hands or fingers, handling, or feel of objects, tools or controls, occasional standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment noise level is usually moderate.

Salary Description $17.72 – $21.00 hourly
