Amazon MGM Studios seeks a Senior Theatrical Sales Manager for Australia/NZ to execute sales and distribution strategies for all theatrical releases. This role implements strategic plans, manages exhibitor relationships, coordinates release scheduling, provides business intelligence reporting, and leads the sales team. The Senior Theatrical Sales Manager drives sales operations to optimize box office performance and profitability for each title, while executing local market strategies aligned with global studio objectives. This position reports to the Head of Australia/NZ Theatrical Distribution.
Key job responsibilities
Develop and execute sales strategies across theatrical releases that align with commercial objectives
Negotiate with exhibitors to secure optimal screen count and terms
Build and maintain strong exhibitor relationships to support release performance
Manage weekly session planning and holdovers to maximize screen count
Analyze market trends, audience behavior, and box office performance
Collaborate with the Theatrical Marketing team to share insights, align sales strategies with marketing initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging
Manage relationship and ongoing operations with the preferred Content Delivery Service company
Manage the implementation, testing, training and setup of the Sales and Booking system
Oversee forecasting, admissions targets, and revenue modeling for all titles
Lead, mentor, and manage the sales team to achieve commercial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Support release date planning that balances local conditions with studio objectives
Maintain market release schedule and communicate competitive film movements
Present release plans to exhibition clients and coordinate promotional activities
Collect and analyze box office data to inform tactical decisions
Monitor and maintain distribution budgets within established guidelines
Prepare and deliver internal and external reports for stakeholders
Maintain and monitor accurate records of sales, terms and payments, in conjunction with the Finance Manager
Manage the planning, production, classification, and delivery of trailers and promotional assets
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of experience in theatrical distribution or entertainment sales
Demonstrated ability to maintain exhibitor relationships and negotiate effectively
Proficiency in business intelligence tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI, Comscore, Numero)
Strong analytical expertise and strategic thinking skills
Strong communication and presentation abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading and mentoring a sales team
Knowledge of the Australia/New Zealand theatrical exhibition landscape
Experience with film performance forecasting and revenue modeling
Problem-solving mindset with ability to adapt to change
Experience managing stakeholders across multiple business functions
Understanding of theatrical windows and circuit development strategies
Experience representing a studio at industry events and conventions
