Company Tucci Lighting is a premier lighting design firm looking for a Senior Lighting Designer to join our San Francisco studio. We are a compact team that believes light as a medium allows for support and enhancement of spaces in meaningful ways. We view collaboration as a way to harness the expertise required to succeed at each individual project.
Position Summary We are looking for an analytical and innovative individual who is inherently passionate about project management and lighting design. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leadership, project management, project-based workflow, and lighting design. The Senior Designer works to carry out Tucci Lighting’s design vision, facilitate and maintain client communication, manage the overall project initiatives, and oversee the internal project team.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership & mentoring to internal project team members
Assume responsibility for familiarizing new team members with project processes and procedures
Collaborate with the principal to establish personal development objectives for team members
Ability to manage 1−2 direct reports
Clear level of professionalism as a representative of Tucci and a team leader
Delegate work among team members while communicating clarity of tasks and expectations
Ability to roll up sleeves and step in where needed to get the job done
Lead client communication
Attend design meetings, site visits, and focusing appointments
Take ownership of the team's effort to produce documentation with completeness, accuracy, and timeliness
Maintain knowledge/awareness of the contracted scope
Managing multiple projects simultaneously (10-15 concurrently)
Provide prompt billings based on deliverables
Review invoices for accuracy and completeness
Produce and oversee the overall project schedule and budget
Outline project scope, monitor progress, and establish a cadence of deliverables, which includes writing comprehensive project proposals and additional service requests
Maintain project management software for respective projects
Anticipate workload across their project portfolio, including participation in monthly projected forecasting
Indicate to the Principal and Director of Operations when additional services are required
Provide input to the Principal and Director of Operations to streamline workflow and efficiency
Maintain and help to improve upon the studio's standards for deliverables, workflows and internal processes
Create designs and documentation from concept through construction administration, either individually or by managing the project team
Produce AutoCAD and/or Revit drawings
Write specifications and perform lighting calculations
Produce lighting control design (Lutron Homeworks or equal)
Create and deliver client presentations and renderings
Develop technical mounting details and lighting mock-ups
Interface with local sales representatives for current lighting equipment
Attend lighting focus at project completion, often after hours
Responsible for Submittals, RFIs, and shop drawing review.
Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and building certifications (LEED, WELL, Living Building)
Bring mature thinking to propose streamlined communication between team members & outside relationships
Coordination with multiple disciplines, including Landscape Architects, Electrical Engineers, AV/Low Voltage designers, contractors, and subcontractors
Qualifications
5−10 years of experience in the field of lighting design, interior design, architecture or like field
Detail-oriented, with a team-oriented approach to achieving goals and deliverables
Motivated to work both collaboratively and alone
Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively transmit complex thoughts and strategies into simple, actionable recommendations
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe CS Suite, Microsoft Office, Revit, and working knowledge of AGi32 (required)
Experience with SketchUp and 3D modeling (preferred but not required)
Undergraduate degree in Architectural Lighting Design, Architecture, or Interior Design
Pay Range
Salary $90k - $120k commensurate with experience
This is a full-time, exempt position, working on average 40 hours per week
This is a hybrid position - part-time in office, part-time remote. Remote schedule is agreed upon at hire and may need to be modified as work dictates.
Availability when working remotely must be M-F 9 am-6 pm PDT
