
Job Description
We are seeking a passionate Interior Designer to join our dynamic team. This role involves executing project deliverables in line with the schedules set forth by the Project Manager and Senior Designer. The ideal candidate will generate design iterations and options, communicate ideas through hand sketches, and interpret designs into 3D models using SketchUp and Enscape. Proficiency in CAD, Bluebeam, and redlining renderings is essential. The candidate will also inform the technical team regarding design inquiries and ensure alignment with design concepts.
Responsibilities
Execute project deliverables within the allotted time as per the project schedule.
Generate design iterations and communicate ideas through hand sketches.
Interpret conceptual designs into 3D models using SketchUp and create visualizations in Enscape.
Utilize Bluebeam effectively for internal and external communication.
Redline renderings, models, and prototypes to ensure they align with design concepts.
Independently manage tasks as required by a project under the direction of Senior Designer.
Delegate project team tasks and information to ensure design deliverables align with schedule.
Communicate with clients to distribute project deliverables and seek information as needed.
Train Designer I and Design Assistants.
Review intern schedules and coordinate with Project Managers as needed.
Manage and prioritize tasks across multiple projects with the Project Manager.
Track and document changes/revisions for integration into design deliverables.
Research and follow industry changes, evolutions, and best practices.
Essential Skills
5-7 years of relevant experience working in an interiors firm.
Bachelor and/or Master in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
Completed 3+ custom restaurant projects.
Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with design development and schematic design.
Experience with FF&E selections.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to train and mentor junior designers.
Portfolio should include custom restaurants and custom hospitality work (retail, hotels, amenity spaces).
Work Environment Our office is located on the outskirts of West Loop in a lively setting. We maintain an open office concept and are dog‑friendly. The work schedule is Monday to Thursday in the office, with Fridays at home. Flex hours are available for those commuting from the suburbs. The team enjoys outings and team meetings at a nearby brewery and participates in a summer retreat for team bonding. The workload averages 42‑45 hours per week, with busier periods during deadlines. Employees receive 10 days of PTO in their first year, increasing to 20 days by the fifth year, as well as holiday pay. The creative team handles FF&E specifications, while the technical team manages millwork, furniture detailing, and built‑in drawings.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $40.86/hr.
