Position Summary
The Specialist III, Media Relations, is responsible for supporting and advancing strategic media outreach that elevates Nightingale Education Group's visibility across local, trade, and national media. The role focuses on identifying high-impact story opportunities, crafting brand‑aligned narratives, and securing earned media coverage. This position also serves as a liaison to internal teams and external partners, while monitoring emerging issues, analyzing media trends in key markets, and identifying and supporting executive visibility opportunities to amplify the organization’s mission outcomes.
Role and Responsibilities
Contributes to the development and execution of the organization’s media relations strategy, through story and narrative development and creation, and media outreach across TV, digital, print, and new media channels.
Identifies and crafts high‑impact, authentic and engaging audience‑specific stories, press releases, and media narratives tied to learners, alumni, partners, and mission‑driven initiatives through strategic media outreach and consistent follow‑up.
Builds and maintains relationships with key journalists to position Nightingale as a trusted source on nursing, higher education, and workforce development.
Collaborates with internal teams and relevant external partners to identify storytelling opportunities, ensure messaging is brand‑aligned, communications are coordinated across functions, and external content reflects brand voice and audience priorities.
Supports executive visibility and thought leadership by preparing interview briefings, talking points, and media training, and by advising spokespeople ahead of interviews, podcasts, and other media engagements.
Coordinates responses to reactive and negative media inquiries, working closely with leadership, legal, and other stakeholders to manage reputational risk; proactively monitors media for emerging issues and sensitive topics across key markets.
Delivers performance reports and analysis, offering insights on competitor visibility, geographic and policy trends, health care issues, and media sentiment to inform strategic planning.
Supports key channels with content the organization can use to build connection with key audiences including prospects, learners, alumni, Supervised On‑ground Field Experience (SOFE) partners, and collaborators.
Develops and maintains internal PR infrastructure, including Muck Rack and Qwoted, as well as systems for press release approvals, story‑sharing, and centralized resources via SharePoint; produces creative and written assets using Adobe Suite as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in PR, Journalism, Communications, or related field is required.
Demonstrated a minimum of three years of experience working to develop external professional communications.
Demonstrated a minimum of one year of experience in brand, reputation, and image management strongly preferred.
Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Budgeted Hiring Range $77,108.42—$86,746.98 USD
All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will cover travel, lodging, and other accommodations.
