Position: Amazon Advertising Lead
Location: Ypsilanti, MI - Hybrid
Schedule: Full-time, Exempt
Compensation: $85,000-110,000 per year
Benefits & Perks: Paid time off, paid holidays, monthly health stipend
NOTE: A short (1-3 min) video upload is required for your application to be considered. Details below.
Overview Ballard House is a founder-led agency that partners with established brands to scale Amazon operations using our in‑house logistics, content creation and advertising infrastructure. Founded in 2017, we began as an Amazon reseller and evolved into our current brand partnership model in 2023, bringing operational excellence to a select portfolio of eight and nine‑figure brands.
We’re hiring an Amazon Advertising Lead to own paid advertising strategy and execution for our managed brands on Amazon. This role is responsible for driving profitable growth through Amazon PPC and AMC across our portfolio. You’ll work with leadership to build the playbooks, lead day-to-day execution for our ads specialists, and get to put your strategic fingerprint on a key area of the business.
This role will be accountable for execution on partner priorities such as driving sales velocity, organic keyword rankings, and maintaining target return on ad spend (ROAS). Brand priorities will come from Brand Managers, which you will translate into clear advertising frameworks, execution standards, and measurable outcomes.
This is not a specialist role, nor a hands‑off director seat. You will be in the weeds on campaign management many weeks, helping build and refine SOPs for others, and consulting with leadership on strategic initiatives or supporting brand managers on client calls periodically.
What You’ll Own
Own and evolve Amazon advertising strategy across PPC, AMC, and other paid channels
Partner with Brand Managers to align advertising strategy with brand‑specific growth objectives
Lead, train, and mentor a team of Advertising Specialists executing day‑to‑day campaign management
Build, document, and enforce scalable advertising processes and best practices
Analyze performance data to identify opportunities, risks, and optimization strategies
Collaborate with creative and brand teams to develop effective ad creatives and landing pages
Oversee A/B testing of ad creatives, targeting, and bidding approaches
Stay ahead of Amazon platform changes, algorithm updates, and industry trends
Ensure advertising efforts drive platform sales, improve organic keyword rankings, and maximize ROAS
Contribute to the growth and systemization at a thriving Michigan‑based ecom team
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of experience managing Amazon paid advertising, including PPC and DSP
Demonstrated success managing $500k+/yr in Amazon ad budgets with strong ROAS performance
Deep understanding of Amazon advertising fundamentals: keyword research, bid optimization, audience targeting, and funnel strategy
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
Hands‑on experience with Amazon Advertising Console and using tools such as bulk files, DataDive, Google Analytics, or similar
Experience leading, training, or mentoring junior team members
Nice‑to‑Haves (or Willing to Learn)
Experience with Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC)
Familiarity with external traffic strategies that drive traffic to Amazon listings
Experience building internal playbooks, SOPs, or scalable team processes
Exposure to EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) principles
Experience collaborating closely with creative teams on ad creative testing
This role is for you if
You enjoy building systems, processes, and playbooks, not just hitting campaign KPIs
You are both strategic and hands‑on, comfortable zooming between big‑picture planning and execution details
You think getting to run ads across a diverse portfolio of brands and categories sounds like your version of a candy‑store
You love making a measurable impact on an org, not just be a butt in a seat
You like mentoring and developing people and take pride in helping build strong teams
You are both curious and data‑driven: you think testing and learning is fun
You wouldn’t trade your reputation for a short‑term win
You agree that watching an ads engine scale profitably is one of life’s greatest joys
Probably not the right fit if you
Prefer working independently and do not enjoy cross‑functional work
Are only interested in execution and not in strategy or system‑building
Prefer a role focused on a single brand or narrow set of campaigns
Think learning AI is ‘not your thing’
Want to work from a beach or rarely ‘meet’ your coworkers
Feel like giving or receiving process‑oriented feedback is painful or unkind
Benefits We invest in people who move the business forward. We offer competitive compensation and a high‑trust, high‑performance environment where operators can thrive. Perks include:
Paid time off and paid holidays
No bureaucracy or layers of management—just clear goals and real ownership
Work with founders and leadership
Tools and training to help you grow in ecommerce
A team that moves fast, wins together, and doesn’t tolerate drama
Company Core Values These aren’t poster values. We use them to make decisions, hire and move fast. If they match how you operate, you’ll fit right in.
Unimpeachable Character: Be someone others are always proud to associate with, personally and professionally
Open and Honest: Feedback is our fuel to grow
Play to Win: Define what it takes to win, then do it
Always Moving Forward: We choose relentless positivity
