Who We Are:
Government Property Administration (GPA) is a group within Southwest Research Institute’s Contracts Department. GPA assists the research divisions in meeting requirements of government prime contracts and subcontracts when Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) property clauses and/or additional property provisions from government agencies are included.
Objectives of this Role:
Work with the Institute’s Property Administrator to learn all the procedures and processes to ensure compliance with regulations as they apply to the management of government property.
Successfully interface with senior management, project managers, and Clients. This will include efficiently researching government property questions and accurately determining the answer or best course of action.
Coordinate accurate annual physical inventories for SwRI’s operating divisions and reconcile results to ensure compliance with regulations.
Interface with government, internal, and external auditors and effectively resolve any issues that may arise during an audit to maintain an approved property system.
Conduct periodic training sessions for technical and administrative staff to broaden understanding of the importance of maintaining a system and preventing systemic issues that would jeopardize SwRI’s approved Government Property System.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Administer terms of contract provisions that specify obligations to acquire, control, use, care for, and dispose of government property.
Prepare specialized reports for government customers in accordance with contractual requirements.
Coordinate the physical inventory of government property and reconcile results to ensure compliance with regulations.
Interface with clients and auditors as required and effectively resolve any issues that may arise during an audit.
Participate in the development and implementation of tools, processes and procedures, and reviews periodically to ensure continued compliance as regulations are updated/changed.
Requirements:
Requires a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Communications or related field.
Certified Professional Property Administrator (CPPA) or Certified Professional Property Manager (CPPM) are preferred but not required.
5-10 years: Exceptional communications skills and a willingness to learn and dig in to resolve issues, ask follow on questions if necessary, and report to management.
2-10 years: Any prior experience with government property and government contracts is a plus.
2-10 years: Any prior supervisory or leadership experience is a plus.
2-10 years: Attention to detail, accurate reporting, information retention, and the ability to multi-task.
A valid/clear driver’s license is required.
Special Requirements: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
