The Used Vehicle Manager is responsible for the overall performance, profitability, and growth of the used vehicle departments at both a Mazda and Ford store. This role will lead acquisition, reconditioning decisions, pricing strategy, and wholesale management, with a clear mandate to increase retail used vehicle volume within six months.

Responsibilities of Used Vehicle Manager
Source used vehicles through auctions, trades, direct purchases, and market opportunities
Maintain proper inventory mix based on market demand, days supply, and price points
Monitor market trends and competitive inventory to guide buying decisions
Review and approve recon estimates with a focus on speed, quality, and cost control
Make final decisions on repair vs. wholesale based on profitability and marketability
Ensure recon timelines support fast inventory turn and frontline readiness
Establish competitive and market-based pricing strategies
Adjust pricing based on market data, aging, and inventory performance
Work with marketing and sales teams to ensure accurate online listings and vehicle presentation
Identify units best suited for wholesale early in the process
Maximize wholesale returns through auctions, direct buyers, or dealer networks
Minimize losses on non-retailable units
Work closely with General Managers, Sales Managers, and Service departments
Support sales teams with product knowledge and inventory strategies
Maintain accountability and urgency to meet volume and profit goals
Requirements
Must be interested in training additional sales associates and work within a team environment
Proven experience as a Used Vehicle Manager or similar role in automotive retail.
Strong understanding of vehicle acquisition, recon, pricing, and wholesale processes.
Enthusiastic with high energy throughout the sales workday
Data-driven decision-making skills
Ability to operate in a dual-store environment
Strong negotiation and market analysis skills
Experience With Inventory Management And Pricing Tools Preferred
