Planned Giving Officer

Reports To Director of Planned Giving
FLSA Exempt (Full-time – 40 hours, benefits-eligible)
Position Summary Responsible for securing planned gifts to support the Catholic schools and parishes in the Diocese of Charlotte, cultivate relationships with current and potential Catholic Heritage Society members, and increase endowment gifts to the Foundation Diocese of Charlotte that support Catholic schools and parishes.
Essential Functions
Cultivate, solicit, and steward planned giving prospects and Catholic Heritage Society members to realize greater impact for Catholic schools and parishes of the diocese through face‑to‑face visits, phone calls, written communication, events, and direct response tools.
Assists in the acquisition and growth of endowments to the Foundation of the Diocese of Charlotte.
Strong written communication collaborating directly with donors and prospects to establish relationships.
Assists schools and parishes with the implementation and growth of planned giving committees, including establishing 20 School Legacy Committees and increasing Parish Legacy Committees.
Travel to schools and parishes to provide on‑site leadership, guidance, and support in building strong relationships.
Develops and monitors timely reports relative to planned gift strategies and benchmarks.
Track and record expected, pending, and mature planned gifts.
Provide assistance with Catholic Heritage Society events.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements Required Education, Experience and Skills
BA / BS degree (8+ years fundraising experience may substitute degree)
5+ years of demonstrated experience in professional fund development
Must be comfortable initiating conversations and interacting effectively with donors, prospects, school leaders, parish leaders, and all levels represented by the Church
Proficient in MS Office
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work with confidential and sensitive materials
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and participate as an effective team member
Bilingual Skills (English, Spanish)
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
Prior planned giving experience
Community Foundation, Catholic Foundation, or diocesan experience
Blackbaud Raiser's Edge/NXT experience
Bilingual Skills (English, Spanish)
Working Environment Must be willing to travel within the Diocese of Charlotte. In‑office hours are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours may vary due to travel, evening, or weekend work.
