Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for an Inside Sales Representative located in Montgomery, AL. This role is responsible for selling building material products to retail customers primarily through phone and email communication, while ensuring strong customer relationships, service excellence, and profitable growth.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, negotiation, and follow up skills, with the ability to consult customers on product selection, performance, and application to meet their specific needs. Experience in the lumber, building materials, or construction supply industry is preferred. This role involves generating leads, delivering solutions tailored to customer needs, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The representative will also assist in upselling products and services, handling inquiries, and collaborating with the sales team to meet performance goals.
Key Responsibilities
Make outbound follow up calls to potential and existing customers to generate and close sales opportunities
Handle inbound sales calls and convert inquiries into orders
Build and maintain long term customer relationships through consistent communication and service
Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate product solutions
Prepare quotes, communicate pricing and credit terms, and enter sales orders accurately
Coordinate with operations and logistics teams to confirm inventory availability and delivery schedules
Track inventory levels and assist customers with delivery timing expectations
Investigate and resolve customer issues related to orders, deliveries, or product concerns
Maintain accurate customer and sales activity records within company systems
Collaborate with outside sales representatives to support account growth and customer service
Participate in sales meetings, reporting, and team initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required ; equivalent combination of education and experience
One to two years of experience in inside sales, customer service, or the building materials industry preferred
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills
Ability to manage multiple customer accounts and priorities in a fast paced environment
Proficiency with standard office software and sales or ERP systems
